Job Profile
Reporting to the G&P China General Manager (Dotted line to the Group Quality Director), he is responsible for the day-day control of the nominated country’s
a. Develop and maintain the quality management system, being the pathfinder and guide for the required Group continuous improvement activities on the road to excellence in all aspects of our services
b. Technical activities encompassing Technical Sales, Training, BMS, Environmental
c. H&S Management to assist in the continuous improvement of the Group reputation activities.
Activities_ Internal Quality Management
? Provide the leadership and guidance at regional level for the implementation, management and development of the Group BMS requirements in the designated region focussed on achieving the Group goal of excellence in customer service.
? Conduct required Group Process and BMS Audits of regions activities to assess ongoing compliance to required group standards of excellence. Ensure all deviations are quickly and permanently resolved to maintain the Group’s continuous improvement focus on the journey to excellence in customer service.
? Develop, implement and manage where required in Plants the layered audit team activities focused on standardised working practices and required operational standards (e.g. PPE, dress code, tooling etc.)
? Analyse all audit [viz. Layered, BMS and Process] performances to identify the required areas for improvement in Operations and Administration management ensuring all lesson learnt are recognised and consolidated into ongoing activities.
? Be the focal point for the receipt and resolution of customer concerns and complaints to ensure timely and satisfactory close out of all issues with no reoccurrences.
? Working with Group Quality Manager to ensure regional lessons learnt are incorporated into Group BMS and cascaded out to all other regional teams.
? Responsible for the maintenance of the relevant country Quality reporting ensuring data presented is accurate and the common root causes of adverse trends are identified with assured implemented corrective actions. Where necessary escalating to Group Management for support and awareness.
? Using personal expertise to support the region managers Manager in the identification and resolution to barriers, to reaching the Group Excellence in Customer Service Strategy goals.
? Act as the Champion for the local Excellence Strategy through management and resolution of all the regional teams Health, Safety and Environmental issues, ensuring the appropriate reportage liaison with customers and Group Quality Manager on satisfactory timely close out of all issues with no reoccurrences.
? When required support Plant Managers on the incoming part inspection process to assure adherence to required schedule, methodology and accuracy of required reportage
? Support the ongoing continuous improvement activities by developing and conducting the required training or workshops
Activities_ Supplier quality management
? Reporting to the General Manager, the Technical Manager is responsible for the overall development and management of the country Technical Department team ensuring they work in a professional safe manner coherently sharing the single Group vision.
? Responsible for the achievement of the country’s Technical objectives and BMI targets
? Ensure customer satisfaction in various projects (Supplier Pre-assessment and qualification / Supplier Process Audit based on VDA6.3/ Supplier development for improvement of quality performance/ Trouble shooting and problem analysis with quality tools/ PPAP audit at different suppliers/ Overall supplier management).
? Responsible for the selection, recruitment induction, and development of the permanent engineering team
? Ensuring the availability of key Technical resource to one hundred percent fulfil the required roles to realize the above Technical opportunities.
? Responsible for the day-day management of the Engineering teams at the clients’ sites, maintaining an ongoing relationship in order to maximize the potential for further Technical operational integration
? Responsibility for the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Group BMS in nominated country. Ensure the retention of the Group certification through proactive auditing and closing out any corrective actions arising.
? Personally lead the development and implementation of the country’s Technical services fully exploiting current and new market sector opportunities. Providing the required support to other functions as necessary
? Support continuous improvement in the country’s operations by a program of process audits and assisting the Operations Manager & team in eliminating the shortfalls found in the ongoing activities
? Ensure the country’s legal compliance on all aspects of the day-day Health, Safety, and Environmental management requirements.
? In conjunction with the Group Director develop the Group GP5 processes maintaining and developing a personal relationship with the Regional SQD decision makers. Ensure that all relevant g&p Engineers are competent in GP5 requirements and their implementation.
? Lead the development and delivery of the annual country-training plan to ensure the realisation of the Group strategies through the development of consistent core skills and competences.
? As and when required personally conduct Technical programmes including but not limited to training projects, auditing activities et al.
? Utilize personal expertise in the timely and efficient resolution of the country’s major issues
? Develop and maintain the required reportage to support the above activities.
Conditions
The jobholder will be normally based at the Shanghai/Changshu and will be expected to spend time away from home including periods abroad occasionally at short notice as required to support the business needs.
Requirements
The jobholder will be self-motivated with good interpersonal skills with a proven track record of achievement in Technical/Quality/project management in the automotive field at least five years’ experience especially with rich experience in Quality System, SQM, Process Audit, Supplier Assessment, Open Issues follow up. The ability to successfully manage a number of diverse and potentially conflicting business activities in a dynamic and high-pressure environment is essential.
? Good comprehension of various quality tools (AIAG 5 tools/8D/Problem solving etc.)
? Highly trained in more than 1 commodity area – expert in engineering /manufacturing process for either power train/chassis, exterior/interior, Body-In-White or electrical.
? Proven capabilities in problem solving and team management with good remote control skills.
? Interpersonal skills, team orientation is necessary along with computer competency, e.g. MS Office.
? Familiar with ISO/TS16949, VDA 6.3.
? Fluent in English.
