Department Description
The Global Supply Chain JDM Operations Quality has the role to expand and development the Quality expertise of the Motorola Solutions (MSI) critical JDM partners and the key JDM material suppliers that are defined critical for the business. We lead the realization of significant improvement in quality by focusing on high-value opportunities, leveraging our and JDM resources, developing JDM and suppliers along with driving the utilization of Six Sigma quality tools. Lead the effort in the Quality section of the supplier scorecard process and drive quality improvement plans. Provide lead role in identifying and driving quality issues with resolution and processes improvements to ensure permanent corrective actions are implemented and sustained at our JDM's and their key suppliers. This is completed by being the "Quality One Face"for JDM supply chain related issues to enable our MSI Supply Chain to meet customer commitments. We align with our MSI Supply Chain and Quality partners by providing boots on the ground at the critical JDM partners (also known as the BIG 4) with category expertise, transparent communication, and rapid solutions attacking systemic quality issues, expert problem solvers, and drivers of tactical Quality Events.

Scope of Responsibilities / Expectations

In this role the candidate will be responsible for; but not limited to:

- Manage the day-to-day Quality activities with the JDM (Askey, IAC, Wistron, or USI)
- Report to the JDM location on a daily basis
- Drive process improvement with the JDM within the 4 walls of the site while ensuring JDM counterparts are aware of improvement areas
- Drive the Supply Chain NPI related activities with the assigned JDM(s), parts qualification, supplier issues, PSO, PPAP actions, etc
- Drive the JDM's capability for quality and delivery of high risk or unique components awarded to their assigned suppliers
- Drive the responsible for qualifying the high-risk components awarded to their assigned categories and JDM suppliers using PPAP / PSO process.
- Lead Quality Meetings with JDM's, develop, drive and monitor continuous improvement plans. MSI assigned Supplier Development Engineer will provide technical assistance.
- Partner with assigned JDM to develop and maintain a quality improvement plan that address critical areas for step level improvements, identify and drive implementation of quick wins, etc
- The candidate must be able to independently solve problems and be able to recommend and/or drive corrective actions
- Be the one MSI supply chain contact for assigned JDM and provide detail communication on any issue to quality improvement.
- Defined a common JDM Management System of standard measures and determine NEW critical areas.
- Effectively participate in cross-functional teams to analyze, understand root cause, and implement permanent corrective actions for customer received quality, out-of-box failures, in conjunction with in business product / NPI quality, Holtsville Supply Chain quality teams.
- Drive innovation, identification, and implementation of effective solutions to business problems across the global Quality operation, including quality to the customer, and quality at or after new product launch.
- Benchmark business processes against best-in-class and drive implementation of best practices.
- Actively participate and drive green belt and black belt projects as appropriate. Both internally and across the JDM's.
- Drive cost reduction with the JDM operation the areas of COPQ, process management, product reworks, etc

Specific Knowledge/Skills
- Demonstrate a strong history of leadership skills with a trend of positive implementation.
- Strong understanding of effective quality systems and methodologies (ISO / TL).
- Strong statistical analysis skills with solid command of the tools and methodologies
- Understands basic Program management methodologies
- Understands internal and external business environment, practices, and trends in quality management.
- Demonstrates strategic thinking and champions innovative ideas.
- Ability to work directly with internal and external customer. End product uses in most cases.
- Able to make decisions of moderate to high complexity that impact schedules/deliverables of projects.
- Utilizes resourcefulness/negotiation to effectively leverage and focus needed resources across organizational and geographical boundaries.
- Demonstrates responsiveness and promptness in dealing with business needs.
- Ability to work regional and global level projects.
- Able to develop and deliver professional presentation to customer and senior leaders.
- Green Belt / Black Belt preferred (Green Belt Certified to complete within first 6 months in role)
- Engineering knowledge in DOE, FMEA, SPC, Process Characterization, GR&R - Sufficient command of the principles of statistics and quality assurance systems, and PPAP is preferred
- Basic understanding on LEAN fundamentals
- Knowledge for EE experience in Telecommunication preferred.
- Able to demonstrate expertise in Manufacturing Process and Process Development
- Good written & verbal communication (English), Presentation, Interpersonal skills -Self motivated & passionate to drive zero defect quality culture
- 10 yrs+ experience (Mfg, Dev, or mfg process related Quality role)
