Purpose of the position
The Business Process & Training Specialist will be responsible in assisting the Ocean Freight product organization in validating, documenting, communicating and training the Ocean Freight users at District level.
The primary purposes of this role are:
i. Focus on reviewing and enhancing the existing business process with the intent of streamlining and reducing process cycle time.
ii. Responsible to continually review how system users are working within SAPTM & ensure users are fully utilizing its full potential in the execution of their daily tasks.
iii. Drives continues improvement through business process standardization enhancement, training and system
iv. Strive towards best in class trained workforce through training and promotes organizational learning
Key Tasks
? Leads Productivity and Quality initiatives within a District/region through process standardization
? Identifies and analyzes business demand and values process improvement versus application development
? Bridges Business demand with IT developments
? Issues Business Request forms and raises GAP
? Provides business expertise for system developments
? Business Process Optimization – Identifying opportunities to drive change to current process in order to reduce cost, managing risk, improve efficiency and effectiveness
? Deliver business process and procedures training for all new initiatives
? Facilitate in improving District Operational KPI through identifying improvement opportunities and training
? Acting as an escalation and resolution point for questions and disputes relating to process change
? Support the Corporate Operations Training Team and end users during and after the roll –out of SAPTM
? Reviews standard procedures and training material and adapts to local needs, where required.
? Strives towards best in class trained workforce and promotes organizational learning
? Identifies best practices and feeds sharing process
Decision Making Authority
? Judges between process or system development
? Decides on training demand and sets training priorities
Function / Market & Industry Knowledge / Business Acumen / Process working
Required skills
? Understand Panalpina’s product organization (i.e. Ocean Freight)
? Holistic, analytical and structured working methodology
? Strong didactical skills, enthusiastic trainer, experienced in operational training (all levels)
? Preferably higher educational level (economics, logistics)
Profound knowledge of
? the Ocean Freight industry
? business process management (BPM), process re-engineering
? quality management (QM) / continuous improvement programs
Skills & Competencies
? Independent working attitude
Good ability to
? manage projects with large scope
? drive innovation, manage change and deal with ambiguity, devising effective change management processes

Educational background / Work experience
? Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Economics/Logistics or freight forwarding apprenticeship
? 5-10 years of work experience in Panalpina’s Ocean Freight organization
? International working experience preferred
Language skills
? Fluent in English (written and spoken)
? Local country language
Computer Literacy
? Good knowledge of Microsoft® Office Software (Excel®, Word, PowerPoint® and others)
? Good knowledge of SAP®
? Profound in FOS, Seawarder, SCP, GBD, MyPanalpina, etc.
? SAP FIN experience (shipping run) of advantage
