Watson Analytics is a smart data discovery service on the cloud. It introduces a paradigm shift in the way business users engage with data and analytics. Guided by capabilities from across the IBM Business Analytics portfolio, Watson Analytics allows business users to independently navigate through their data, easily applying their domain knowledge to the observed patterns in order to quickly answer questions, gain insights and make informed, data-driven decisions.

As an IBM Cloud Engineer working in our DevOps culture, you will use the latest tools and technologies available to deliver state-of-the-art SaaS offerings. You’ll be responsible for the design, development, release and ongoing operation of Continuous Delivery & Deployment framework, architecture, tooling and process that support our technology platforms and services.

We have several positions open and are looking for candidates with different levels of experience.

Responsibilities:

• Enable Dev and Ops to build and deploy our application from code to production and internal environments using our infrastructure
  
• Standardize, automate and document setup of development and production environments
  
• Ensure production system outages and crashes are minimized, and come up with preventive measures against future downtime
  
• Design and socialize requirements needed to produce resilient, maintainable and scalable products and services
  
• Collaborate with peers on work estimation/planning and implementation of new versions/features of tools
  
• Bring new automation technologies to improve the velocity and quality of our engineering efforts
  

Skills Needed:

• Experience engineering solutions in a DevOps culture supporting Automation, Continuous Integration/Delivery, Continuous Availability, Logging, Monitoring, etc.
  
• Experience providing infrastructure to support developers to deliver to CI/CD systems
• In-depth automation experience using configuration management tools such as Chef, Jenkins and Docker
  
• Strong coding/scripting skills with languages such as Java/JavaScript/Python etc.
  
• Experience administering app servers, web servers and databases such Node.js, WebSphere, Nginx, MongoDB, DB2, IBM BigInsights
  
• Experience working with Vyatta, ELK, Linux, NewRelic
  
• Demonstrated belief in failing fast and working iteratively in an Agile environment

Required (requisition section)

• Bachelor’s degree
• At least 1 year experience engineering solutions for Continuous Integration/Delivery in a DevOps culture
• Willingness to work in the Xian office full time
• Fluent in English

Preferred (requisition section)

• Master’s degree
  
• At least 1 year experience with Chef, Jenkins, Docker, Vyatta, Kibana, Python, Linux, NewRelic
