Business Environment & Job Description:
This is an exciting opportunity to help define and create the new Shared Engineering Services (SES) Organization. SES is a new, and growing function within HP Personal System and Printing Business Unit chartered to establish and improve critical engineering skills and processes, in support of GBU Product Development and Supply Chain Teams. SES will be a global team, with employees in the US, Taiwan and Shanghai, that will also work closely with ODM’s and critical suppliers. This position will lead a wide variety of programs and projects, along with ongoing operational ownership in select cases, which will deliver new and enhanced capabilities, skills and processes. We are looking for innovative and flexible people with broad business perspectives, who thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
You'll provide program leadership ensuring that project objectives are met and new capabilities are delivered on time.
Manage activities, resource capability, schedules, budgets, and ensure cross company communications to facilitate product completion on schedule within budget. Work with engineering management to identify and improve process and program efficiencies.
Qualifications
· Manages and leads a program involving multiple functions and project teams to drive the engineering development and implementation process for and implementation new process and capabilities.
· Develops and directs development of schedules, critical deliverables, budget, resource allocation plan, and other support requirements for assigned program.
· Manages activities of supporting project teams and internal development partners; ensures progress against established plan and makes determinations based on analysis of business information to alter or update schedule and resource allocation to meet product requirements and development schedule.
· Communicates program progress, escalations, and issue analysis to product stakeholders;
· Collaborates with management and internal manufacturing and development partners to recommend and implement changes to product, processes, or business practices to resolve escalated issues, produce solutions, and ensure adherence to budgets and established product roadmaps and schedules
· Drives innovation and integration of new technologies and quality initiatives into projects and activities in the manufacturing and/or engineering organization.
· Leads and provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members.
Education:
· Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or equivalent
· Minimum of 6-10 years experience in a supply chain or engineering position
· Minimum of 5 years experience in project management
· Strong background in Mech Engineering, Tooling and related finishing processes.
· PMP/PMI certification preferred
·
Knowledge and Skills Required:
· Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to complex business and process.
· Frequently contributes to the development of new ideas and methods.
· Works on complex problems/projects where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors.
· Exercises significant independent judgment within broadly defined policies and practices to determine best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives.
· Leads and/or provides expertise to functional project teams and may participate in cross-functional initiatives.
· Acts as an expert providing direction and guidance to process improvements and establishing policies. Frequently represents the organization to external customers/clients.
· The ability to work effectively in diverse and multi-cultural environments on a worldwide basis
· An innovative and creative approach to solving complex problems
· Tolerance of ambiguity, the ability to cope with peak workloads, short deadlines and significant pressure
· Extensive experience in project and program planning through the complete product lifecyle.
· Demonstrated business acumen and successful experience managing all aspects of programs, including communicating with stakeholders and directing matrixed teams and resources.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language.
· Ability to effectively communicate program plans, proposals, and results, and discuss options and opportunities at senior management levels.
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
· Ability to effectively negotiate with internal and external partners
· Travel ~ 15%, including some international travel
