To manage the strategic and tactical application for the physical security of all personnel and the infrastructure of the Microsoft Corporation, thereby ensuring a safe working environment that supports the organisation and the aims and objectives of its core business within the Greater China Region.
Dimensions:
To manage Microsoft Regional Security in GCR in line with the policy and strategy of Microsoft Global Security and within allocated budgetary constraints.
Accountabilities
Principal responsibilities, activities and required results specific to the job holder. These accountabilities reflect the overarching level of performance for the post holder and may vary subject to assignment, changes in organizational priorities and risk/threat assessments.
Business: Scope
Evaluate, develop and execute issues of regional site security strategies and demonstrate leadership and direction to all agents/vendors ensuring they consistently meet, or exceed, project contracts and deadlines. This should include regular visits to quality assure:
1. Site security survey plans
2. Security assessments
3. Site specific risk/threat analysis
4. Training awareness programmes
All of which need to be managed in cooperation with local, regional and national law enforcement agencies.
Liaison with the highest levels of Governmental, consular and private sector agencies, within your region, to protect and enhance the Microsoft security programme and business accountabilities.
Control the quality of productivity by security operators, through strategic leadership and direction, to ensure the standards of service delivery, reporting and budgetary objectives meet or exceed expectations.
Make considered decisions, and contingency plans, for the immediate resolution of strategic and tactical applications for regional security standards, policy and procedures, through leadership and direction and embrace change to take advantage of business opportunity, for the short, medium and long term.
Take a leading role, on the response to intelligence for the protection of the highest security threat, emergency and contingency planning with regard to executive stakeholders, executives and employees of the Microsoft Corporation.
Act as the Group Regional Security Managers representative on the GCR Incident Management Team when activated to deal with crisis situations as they arise and provide guidance and strategic insight as required.
Implement the level of security vetting for individuals, teams and vendors to ensure compliance with Microsoft policy.
Actively develop cross - business group processes, programmes and projects
Maintain an effective network across the business group, both internal and external, to ensure your expertise is recognised and valued to assist others in achieving maximum efficiency and to raise awareness of Global Security.
Establish and manage relationships with key internal partners (Finance, HR, LCA, Compliance and RE&F)
Provide first phase incident investigation of security related incidents and added additional support to the Global Security Investigations Team on request.
Report all significant security issues/incidents to the Group Regional Security Manager.
Through intelligence led risk/threat assessments, demonstrate a problem solving approach to preserving the business infrastructure at local and regional levels and making recommendations to support the strategic aims at global level.

Ensure that any agent/vendor has clearly defined commitments and that any development need is addressed through training, development or coaching, and encourage a collaborative approach in order to meet organisational expectations. Introduce well thought out strategies to monitor and measure performance and workflow to identify and mitigate any gaps in the program.
Maintain high levels of performance for your security operatives and ensure any vacancy is filled promptly with consideration to the organisations commitment to diversity and equal opportunity.
Business: Implement/Sustain
- Encourage development for external service optimisation, to meet the Microsoft Corporation business aims, and ensure the process is fair and transparent.
- Foster and demonstrate, by example, a working environment of openness, where people can communicate at all levels for the good of the organisation and team, over and above individual ambition.
- Undertake an assessment of responsibilities, personal commitments and liabilities, along with their activities of preparation, to ensure a safe working environment, for the employees of Microsoft Corporation and its infrastructure.
- Ensure that a network of communication is maintained to support your operational effectiveness and demonstrate the level of expertise within Microsoft Global Security which is acknowledged by law enforcement agencies and that they actively seek and respond to requests of assistance.
- Formulate agreed memoranda of understanding between agencies, prior to any crisis management situation, so there are clear lines of responsibility ensuring the business priorities of Microsoft are fully considered.
- Support the Regional Program Manager to promote the Global Security Revenue Influencing program to both internal and external clients and provide demonstrations and presentations sometimes in well attended public forums.
Customer / Partner
- Ensure that the management of all security operations are effective for the safety of Microsoft personnel and their customers, in the planning and preparation of any travel and exhibitions for the purpose of business opportunity, in line with Microsoft corporate standards.
- Support the requirements of the Microsoft Executive Protection Program in North Asia as direct by EPU.
- Support the Educations and Awareness to determine on-going programmes of training, development and coaching to ensure both internal customers are aware of the commitment by Microsoft Global Security toward customer satisfaction.
- Liaise with stakeholders to ensure that you, and all business groups, understand the importance of collaboration and working relationships to support and enhance business objectives with regard to security initiatives, policy and strategy.
- Ensure that all agencies address any conflict in a timely manner, with consideration for other group commitments and accountabilities.
Integration
- Actively encourage all staff in understanding and supporting the objectives and agendas of other groups within Microsoft.
- Determine commitments in order to act upon interdependencies with other groups and ensure added value to organisational priorities.
- Through consultation with other managers, ensure there is no duplication of work, be it internal/external training, project management or strategic and tactical policies.
- Negotiate a working strategy for other group managers to support your aims and objectives and a process for accountability and conflict resolution.
- Manage a crisis incident network that will offer support to all managers across the Microsoft organisation to ensure business sustainability.
- Ensure active support to the International Security Programme charter.
- Manage a communication network to include agencies with expertise in crisis management, risk assessment to terrorist threat, personal protection and CBRN to enable the Microsoft Corporation to protect its employees, customers and infrastructure in order to deliver its core business.
Requirement:
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Educated to degree level or an international equivalent
- Demonstrated knowledge of physical security techniques
- Minimum 10 years of experience as a manager of corporate, public or private organisations security.
- Security industry recognised qualification(s)
- Management of workforce of minimum 10 people in security or a related industry in GCR and/or other countries in the Asia region.
SKILLS
- Ability to develop, implement and drive strategies designed to meet the needs and expectations of Microsoft in GCR.
- Recognised skills at managing and directing activities at multiple geographic locations
