The primary purpose of the Sales Excellence Manager - Manager role is to lead a team comprising of managers to drive strategic improvements in the SMS&P business and ensure all Operational support processes run effectively and efficiently to support the business. The role includes standing-in and representing the SMS&P Lead when necessary.
How does the role add value?
Sales Leadership:
- Drive consistency and excellence in how we sell to our Customers and Partners
- Deliver breakthrough improvements on traditional and emerging business models. Land the Online Services sales motion to take Microsoft into the next technology shift in how our customers will use our products to improve their businesses.
- Be the champions of change in the SMS&P subsidiary.
- Continue to look for opportunities to optimize/leverage common processes and tools across segments (Enterprise Product Group (EPG)/SMS&P).
- Drive and own best practice replication for the SMS&P business.
- Develop talent and build career progression for the Sales Excellence team.
- Drive the organization to World Class Selling standards across SMS&P functions.
- Lands key SMS&P priorities and business as usual planning activities via supporting resources.
Business Insight:
- To continue to evolve the business into a fact-based decision making culture.
- Drive business investments based on data driven results.
- Continue to evolve the business from lagging indicators and reactive state to leading indicators and proactive state
- Have deep insight into business levers and understand how to identify and drive impactful improvements with speed. Understands the importance and connection of core sales motions and supporting process to business results.
Operational Excellence:
- Ensure operational excellence across core sales motions and supporting processes.
- Drives predictable business performance by driving a rigorous Rhythm of Business (ROB) process.
- Drives efficiencies within SMS&P and across segments.
- Looks for opportunities to drive scale in the SMS&P business for greater productivity improvements.
- Continually drives standardization and simplification across SMS&P business operating models and processes.
How is role unique from other roles?
The Sales Excellence Lead looks at and is responsible for the end-to-end SMS&P business. They play a key role in the progression and growth of the SMS&P business, and are a stand in for the SMS&P Lead and coach and manage the team of Sales Excellence resources they manage.
What are key initiatives and challenges facing this role over the next six months to three years?
Online Services - transitioning an organization from on premise selling motions to cloud based selling.
Competitive threats (Google, Oracle, Vmware).
Integration of Partner into Corporate Accounts and Small-Medium Business, single reviews.
Resistance to change Sales Excellence Manager from Operational focus to include Strategic focus, seen as future Sales Leader.
Qualification
- 10+ years of related experience
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.S./B.A.) is required;Master’s Degree and MBA is preferred;
