Department Description

This group is responsible for the networking, core libraries and security components of the JDK (Java SE). We provide a large set of APIs, tools, and implementations of commonly used algorithms, mechanisms, and protocols; these are the foundation of Java standard edition platform and leveraged by the enterprise edition (Java EE) and micro edition (Java ME). We are a global team of experts who provide these world class collection of standard libraries for the Java SE platform, for use by applications as well as for other JDK components.


Detailed Description

We are part of Java Core Technologies Group. We work in JDK9: the next generation platform for Could (PAAS & SAAS). We focus on Java Core: including Core Libraries, Security, Networking, XML, Corba, JDBC and other components.

Additional Details

We are in the process of starting up many new exciting projects to improve existing releases and for the upcoming JDK 9 feature release. They range from modernizing existing implementation to leverage latest language features, performance enhancement, to support of new language features that are being proposed for JDK 9. We are looking for a talented individual to join our team of experts and working with industry elites to take Java to the next level. Specifically there are a few math and core libraries improvement projects that we are looking to invest in for the upcoming releases.

Additional job responsibilities include working with external developers, customers, and partners on defects and RFE requests for future releases. Requires experience with design, development, and debugging in multi-platform environments. Strong preference in hands-on OpenJDK and Mercurial development experience. Must have expert-level proficiency in Java, systems level programming and debugging skills. Great personal leadership and communication skills are required.
