Essential Responsibilities

• Duties include collation of data from various accounting and business systems. Root cause investigation and resolution of sub-systems to GL variances
• Ensuring the completeness and accuracy of the returns and schedules prepared
• Load data into the GE approved VAT Reporting Tool for consolidation and review purposes
• Carry out checks and reviews on high risk transactions and manual adjustments
• Provide/prepare documents supporting the transactional data
• Prepare GST/VAT return reconciliations, including monthly/quarterly balance sheet reconciliations before the return is filed
• Prepare prepayment settlement of outstanding VAT/GST liability if necessary
• Prepare internal settlement amounts and communicate it to R2R/B2P team for payment and accounting of submission
• Assist with all indirect tax operational matters and identify any compliance issues. Escalating matters to Indirect Tax Leader for advice and resolution
• Update eCompliance once the return is filed & upload filed documents electronically
• Liaise with the Corporate VAT/GST team to ensure compliance with local regulations

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
• Written and verbal fluency in English
• Well proven experience of VAT/GST in large multinational for at least 1 Asia country
• Experienced in VAT/GST processes and compliance
• Good working knowledge in a multinational environment
• Good communication skills
• Good analytical skills & ability to technically discuss with local/regional business controllers, country Stat & Tax leader, local Corporate VAT Leaders and KPMG/auditors where necessary,
• Flexible approach with a strong team spirit
• Comfortable delivering against quantitative and qualitative performance metrics

Desired Characteristics

• Big 4 experience
• VAT preparation experience
• Accountancy experience with knowledge of accounting systems; Oracle is an advantage
• Knowledgeable of intermediate to advance MS Excel and Access are required skills
