THE CONTEXT
The EDF Group Open Innovation Team In Asia is part of a global international network that is looking for innovative products, solutions, technologies, companies all over the world. Based in Beijing the OI Team in Asia is responsible for exploring the Asian (Chinese, Korean and Japanese) innovation landscape. Amongst the numerous ways we use to identify innovative start-ups, an important one is through an investment in in a major Chinese venture fund (early stage level).
YOUR MISSION
Your mission is to contribute to the activities of the Open Innovation Team In Asia. You will be involved in EDF Open Innovation Team projects and partnerships in Asia.
YOUR JOB
You will have to participate in the start-up assessment process. So you will need a deep knowledge of the energy business technologies, namely renewable energies, power plants, grid (smart and not so smart), services, energy efficiency…
You are as curious of new technologies as you are aware of industrial constraints. Personal initiative, autonomous work and self organization is the way you think your daily professional life should follow.
If not a Chinese citizen, you read/write/speak Chinese as a Chinese national. You speak/write/read fluent English and or French probably because you spent some time in the USA or in Europe.
You already have more than 3 year professional experience in the energy tech at large including cleantech or you are a mid-career researcher in a world class university or in a high profile research lab.
No financial background is necessary but a good understanding of tech economics is a must have.
You will work in a team located at EDF Beijing R&D Centre. You will also have contacts with other engineers working on other fields, at EDF, in Europe, in the USA and in China.
You will participate to meetings, conferences and technical in Asia, not only in, China.
You will participate to the technico-economic assessment of the products manufactured by the start-ups the team have discovered. You will write periodical reports about it.
Besides, it is possible that you contribute to other projects at EDF R&D Beijing.
REQUIRED SKILLS
· Engineering degree (PhD not necessary but appreciated)
· General understanding of the energy industry
· An academic or industrial experience abroad would be appreciated
LANGUAGE SKILLS
· Fluent Chinese, written & spoken
· English: both written & spoken is a must. French skill is nice to have.
