Red Hat's Global Support Services team is seeking a Technical Support Engineer with excellent technical and customer service skills to act as the first line of contact for all customer inquiries. In this role, you will work with leading open source developers to create new solutions and customer offerings. You'll also find a wide range of opportunities to be involved in global cross-functional projects with our sales, engineering, and training teams. This is a great opportunity to be at the center of new developments and some of the latest technologies.

Primary Job Responsibilities

Act as the direct contact for customer inquiries from the Greater China region through phone, web, and chat, as well as for Japan through the web and chat
Analyze problems with non-functioning software to identify problem areas and recommend corrective actions and resolutions to customers
Use professional concepts and apply company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues
Collaborate with global support engineers to resolve customer issues; document and share diagnostic steps and problem resolutions with the Global Support Services team
Work with all level support engineers in other regions on global projects and assignments
Deliver an exceptional customer service experience
Be on-call and perform night or weekend shift duties on a rotational schedule as needed

Required Skills

Degree in computer science or other scientific or technical field
Ability to communicate clearly to all clients with various levels of technical experience
Good understanding of Linux and UNIX
Excellent English language skills, both written and verbal
Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), or a comparable combination of experience and qualifications
Demonstrated understanding of OS installation, configuration, networking, security, firewalls, and web server
Experience with enterprise storage solutions like SAN, NAS, and clustering, or virtualization is a plus
Advanced Japanese language skills, both written and verbal
