The candidate will take the role of the process automation engineer as the one of key members in Owner capital project management team.

He or she will fill the position of process automation engineer in owner’s project team during the project FEL, detail design and construction phase. He or she will work closely with project manager/project engineer/discipline engineers during project execution stage, and report to Dow Engineering Solutions Greater China organization.

Core Responsibilities:

This role is responsible for applying their technical knowledge by providing automation solutions for the chemical process equipment involved. Along with providing solutions which add value through work process, unit operations, operating condition or process technology improvements. At this experience level the Process Automation Specialist acts as a Lead Process Automation Engineer for intermediate projects, or portions of the process automation design within larger capital projects under the direction of the Lead Process Automation Engineer.

Core responsibilities include:

● Applies Global Project Methodology (Global Project Methodology) and Process Automation Work Process Discipline

● Ensures that the project scope is well defined and meets the business needs in a cost effective manner

● Ensures that the process automation is safe, meets DOW LPP’s and other EH&S requirements.

● Drives project execution within their discipline

● Provides input to project schedule and plans, then monitors progress against the plans

● Ensure discipline design deliverables for their discipline meet the needs of the project: functions as intended, on time and within budget

● Identifies technical problems and appropriately engages the business tech. center and SME network to resolve

● Programming of control applications for various distributed control systems. Writing simulation applications in order to verify functionality of the control program and for training plant operators

● Participate in project commissioning and startup activities, including tuning of control loops

Required Qualifications:

● Excellent communication skills, organizational and work coordination skills, and interpersonal skills are also critical to role success

● A minimum of 6 years of experience

● Broad knowledge and skills in all aspects of Process Automation

● Knowledge of unit operations and Chemical Engineering fundamentals.

● Change Management

● Experience Leading Teams

● Has experience in managing the deliverables needed to prepare project estimates and schedules

Preferred Qualifications:

● Six Sigma Green Belt Project Leader or Black Belt Certification

● Experience in several process technologies/varying businesses

● Operations and/or Commissioning and start-up experience

● Basic Understanding of the function of many types of instruments/sensors/online analytic equipment in process plants

● Understanding of the electrical equipment and setup interfacing with DCS (MCC, VFD, High Voltage Equipment)

● Experience in DCS Engineering project phases (Functional Specification Development, Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), Software Acceptance Test (SAT), C&SU)

Bachelor's Degree (~16 years)
