Job Purpose:


Develops new knowledge and contributes to business through use of broad theoretical and practical experience in a global context within a function.

Shares and exchanges knowledge/ ways of working across functions.


Execute function according to the Offering Development Process, specialized in global underground coal mining, in order to provide a detailed annual method-aligned offering plan, which informs each Product Area's future innovation, technology development and product development roadmaps. These roadmaps, describing mining trends, themes and customer requirements, are to align the organization toward developing the optimized range of future product offerings in the 3-10 year horizon.


Key performance areas:

· Develop the function in line with Sandvik business requirements.

· Continuous development of own knowledge and expertise within the function.

· Capture and develops new ideas and applies them in a way that adds value to the business.

· Share expertise, best practice and way of working in the relevant function within Sandvik.

· Develop new methods, tools and processes within the function.

· Support others to grow and increase their capabilities by sharing own knowledge and expertise.

· Take short-term decisions, even in the face of uncertainty.

· Using Account Management's internal Global Mines Data Base, identify and track and update major new mining projects and current mining operations for specific customer application area;

· Develop and maintain long term Offering Development Position Papers and Plans, for underground coal mining, with Key Customers , Research and Development Institutions as well as Mining Engineering Houses using Mining Method workshops (offering strategy);

· Arrange and facilitate innovation workshops on offering opportunities as identified and validated with Product and Sales Areas as well as from Research and Technology development areas.

· Create and maintain an Offering Development Plan and Roadmap per mining method in order to inform prioritized selection of MSD, R&TD and NPD projects;

· Have an early influence on key customers' mine designs, based on Sandvik’s potential future offerings and technology development, through value-driven innovation, offering development and partnership;

· Captures and develops new ideas and applies them in a way that adds value to the business.

· Responsible for sharing expertise and best practice in PD&GT and Global Equipment

Your profile:

· Broad theoretical and practical experience within the function; typically >10 years.

· Proven track-record of own innovation/development and generating results within the function.

· Proven ability of knowledge-sharing (e.g. mentoring, coaching, networking etc.).

· Recognized within Sandvik as an authority within the function.

· 5-10 years at a senior mine management level within massive mining operations, with an understanding for future customer and industry challenges, needs and requirements;

· Experience in Innovation, R&D, or Product Development functions within an equipment supplier would be advantageous;

· Proven track-record of generating results and solutions within the mining organization.

· Proven ability of knowledge-sharing and internal networking across multiple functions

· University degree from relevant field of study.

· A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant Engineering field

· A post-graduate business qualification, such as a MBA, is advantageous

Others Information:

· Registration as a Professional Engineer with a National Council is advantageous;

· Experience and certification in Six Sigma or Lean Six Sigma is advantageous

· Must be medically fit to visit surface and underground mines;

· Must be prepared to travel globally, to customer and company sites, up to 14 days per month
