Role Summary/Purpose

The role plays a key role in supporting the long term business strategy for profitable growth of LS P&L in China. Through gaining insights and understanding into the government’s 5 year plan around biotechnology and how GE’s technology offerings and capabilities complement this plan, this person will work closely with both the local China team and the overall business in identifying and focusing our efforts.

Essential Responsibilities

This role has been structured to accelerate GE’s growth in the region through aligning both global and local strategic execution in close cooperation / partnering with the overall LS business working in close collaboration with the LS GM for China. Establish and maintain a highly structured understanding of the Life Sciences market in China with a 1 to 5 year time horizon. Provide guidance on where GE’s current technologies may be leveraged to meet the needs of China’s 5 year plan as well as identify new growth areas that align with GEHC Life Sciences technical skill sets. Lead the development of a 3-year strategic roadmap for LS growth in China based on market intelligence and external trends in the region. Partner with LS GM, Commercial for China, the CMO Life Sciences, P&L leaders and other key LS stakeholders to execute China GPB strategy and develop operating rhythm to support growth initiatives with clear targets, milestones and resources. Own market/customer/trend insights that drive knowledge management, segmentation and NPI inputs to P&Ls. Effectively utilize key industry information and market knowledge to help positions LS China to gain additional competitive advantage in market place. Recommend new markets, opportunities, and business models in adjacent/white spaces to drive revenue growth for LS. Closely cooperate with product P&Ls R&D to identify, define and execute technology programs to support the growth in China. Work with KOL’s, Customers, government and other external agencies, to understand their direction in bio technology, in close cooperation with GEHC/GGO China. Support LS P&Ls to partner with leading national stakeholders in developing solutions based on their needs. Build LS capacity with senior policy makers and influencers. Work closely with LS Management and GEHC BD HQ and China Management to support a wide range of business development activities that support P&L expansion, including mergers and acquisitions, licensing and alliances.

Qualifications/Requirements

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration or Chemistry/Engineering/Biotechnology2. 10 years + of commercial/marketing/consultancy experience BT or relevant industries3. Life Sciences product/industry acumen4. Leadership skills to lead teams and shape/lead growth vision and marketing strategy5. Team oriented – ability to motivate and work well with diverse, cross-functional team6. Excellent oral and written communications skills7. Innovation – develop new ideas through collaboration and execute on creative ideas8. Strong analytical and process skills


Desired Characteristics

1. MBA or Master’s degree in Marketing / Business management or in relevant industry subject2. Deep marketing expertise in market & customer insights, product commercialization and branding3. Proven ability to lead, influence and execute in complex, international matrix organization.4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Numerate.5.
