Role Summary/Purpose

The person in this newly created position will create and provide strategic vision, leadership, and management to a team responsible for key medical affairs activities including advisory boards, KOL identification and engagement, field based medical development and management, publications, medical communications, CME and grant administration and fostering relationships with key societies, physician networks and academic institutions.

Essential Responsibilities

• Lead and build/develop a world-class Medical Affairs organization in China and in the Emerging Nations • Collaborate closely and interface with fellow global, regional and local Clinical and Commercial team members and all other functions to support our mission to develop great new diagnostics and make them available to patients in need • Provide input to Clinical Development colleagues regarding development strategies and clinical trial concepts for investigator-sponsored, company-sponsored and cooperative group trials • Work collaboratively with and influence external partners on global medical affairs and clinical development strategies and provide oversight for execution and management of those strategies to meet worldwide needs and to enhance the value of MDx diagnostics. • To be the medical expert for one or more of the companies key products working closely with the marketing team and will represent the product at investigator initiated trial committee meetings. • Provide an additional and important contact point for relationships with Key Opinion Leaders especially in the Cardiology, Neurology, Nuclear Medicine, Interventional Radiology and Urology specialties. • Manage the Clinical Project Manager on the overall strategy and implementation of clinical projects. Be responsible for the performance of the Clinical Project Manager in executing the clinical development plants. Prioritize projects and/or adjust timelines to optimize clinical development efforts. • Provide medical leadership across functions and therapeutic areas to ensure that customers have the right scientific information to maximize quality patient care in the utilization of our products. • Actively participate in the design of the strategic development plan to support the brand strategy and life cycle for current MDx diagnostics, as well as for future products • Establish, manage, and provide senior leadership to a field based medical team to support product life cycle activities and key messaging • Establish strong professional rapport with key customer segments • Develop and oversee brand publication strategies • Lead medical review of promotional and advertising strategies and implementation • Lead strategy and administration of external educational grants and continuing medical education support activities

Qualifications/Requirements

• Advanced Scientific Degree or Certification• 5 to 10 years of pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry experience, at least 8 of which should be in medical affairs and/or clinical development• Experience building and/or leading the medical affairs function is required• Demonstrated success in building effective teams, systems, and processes; proven ability to identify, select and manage a variety of external resources related to execution of medical affairs functions• Ability to lead a team of functional experts and negotiate the multi-disciplinary environment in which they operate• Strategic and analytical thinking with the ability to plan and design effective medical affairs brand and life cycle strategies• Experience and expertise in clinical trial design, interpretation of scientific data, market research, competitive intelligence tools, and medical marketing strategies• High integrity, sense of urgency, ability to recognize time sensitivity, willingness to be a “player/coach” as necessary, and an appetite to lead all activities within the medical affairs and clinical development functions• Work well within a highly matrixed environment with strong abilities to seek consensus and alignment• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, exceptional listening skills, strong presentation skills, and good negotiating and influencing skills• Available for domestic and international travel
