Role Summary/Purpose

Essential Responsibilities

For large AC and DC motor systems: * Supervise and execute work in an organized, safe and effective way, to ensure work is delivered according to our quotation and meets with customer's expectations. * Provide technical direction of mechanical erection, alignment, installation, commissioning, and startup. * Provide technical direction of field service, repair, and troubleshooting. * Provide mechanical testing including vibration analysis and alignment. * Provide electrical testing including Megger, P/I, surge test, winding resistance, drop test on rotor, hi-pot, bar-to-bar, set neutral. * Provide technical direction of commissioning of motor controls (incl. PLC, Drive and HMI) and instrumentation, vibration monitoring, switchgear, lube systems, cooling systems is an asset. * Provide instruction and guidance via training courses to customers' personnel. * Identify and actively promote new service opportunities to grow our service business. * Extensive travel is required. * Plan and prepare work to be executed in the field. * Prepare quotations for sales persons and customers.* Perform site surveys. * Prepare and verify reports and deliver to customer. * Prepare and finalize job details for invoicing. * Keep current on industry standards, codes and technologies. * Perform administrative functions, such as: writing technical reports, ordering materials, securing quotations, filing/archiving data and documents. * Coach other GE personnel to impart and perpetuate knowledge and expertise to develop technical and managerial skills and techniques.

Qualifications/Requirements

* Qualified in making a work site safe to operate for him/her and all other members of the site team. * Bachelor degree, major in Mechanical, engineering or electrical field, or Technologist for Motor Winder with equivalent years of experience will be considered. * 3-5 years’ experience at Field Service for motor systems. * Familiar in the use of test equipment and testing procedures for motor and generator systems, including Doble, Hi-pot, Megger, Resistance, Oscilloscope/Scopemeter, Vibration Analyzer, Alignment, Partial Discharge. * Knowledge in any or all of transformers, switchgear, protection relays, control systems, bushings and related electrical/mechanical equipment is an asset. * Computer literate. * Outgoing self-starter with the initiative and drive to make things happen quickly. * Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision and in a team. * Excellent communication skill * Fluent spoken English skill in technical field
