Job Title: Sr. Logistics Specialist

Role

Responsible for managing day-to-day operations of MeadWestvaco’s supply chain sub-processes including Shipment Planning, Shipment Execution, Shipment tracing, Warehouse Management, Freight Bill Audit/Pay and Import/Export Execution.

Responsibility/Duty

• Managing all transactions within a specific function that supports the execution of material and finish goods movement within the supply chain.
• Works Closely with Customer Service and Planning and scheduling to understand expected volume, prioritize shipments, and determine opportunities to save money and balance workload through mode switching, expediting, and de-expediting.
• Is in close contact with the LSP, customer service, and production/inventory planning to coordinate the information and tasks necessary to meet the customer’s shipping requirements.
• Works with external customers and suppliers to ensure the supply chain is optimized and responsive.
• Monitors all aspects of the transaction to improve efficiency.
• Ensures internal customer service level agreements are met.
• Identifies areas of opportunity to improve the effectiveness of the function within the supply chain.
• Uses proper tools to optimize shipment plans and carrier selection based on delivery requirements, order characteristics, and shipping capacity constraints of the operation.
• Authorizes and documents accessorial charges.
• Reviews freight bill mismatches and fixes problem to allow for payment of freight invoices.
• Works to fix or escalate process issues relating to freight bill kick-outs
• Manage initial inventory fill details for new warehouses
• Manage inventory disposition/movement details on warehouse closures
• Enters or oversee the electronic entry/reconciliation of all inventory transactions in JDE and SAP systems
• Complete inventory reconciliation, including write-on and write-off.
• Gathers and inputs space projections from each division into model
• Balances the objectives of each location/division with those of the corporation and has strong goal congruence to the each location’s objectives through the management of SLA’s
• Manage the production planning, production progress and shipping at the contract manufacturing partners to ensure the whole supply chain is executed as per customer expectations.
• Handles all inquiries from Customer Service and Sales
• Any ad hoc assignment designated by the supervisor.

Qualification

• 5+ years business experience in areas such as Transportation, Logistics, Distribution, Customer Service, or Planning and Scheduling.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite/Lotus Notes/Instant Messenger
• SAP Proficiency
• Demonstrated leadership - ability to represent functional needs to the local organization and vice versa
• High stress tolerance
• Ability to actively participate on a high performance team
• Enthusiasm for change are a must
• Bachelor's degree, Logistics degree or certification is a plus
• Experience within one of the local manufacturing/distribution organizations
