Position: Legal Counsel

Job Description:

? Report to Executive Director and Chair of Legal Committee, Patent and Innovation Committee;

? Manage the SOP and documentation of QBPC contracts, compliance review records, and other legal matters related to QBPC projects, tax, AIC filing, etc.;

? Review the contracts and compliance implications in QBPC projects and Office operation and seek the decisions from the Steering Council, relevant leaders and Executive Director according to SOP;

? Manage the IPR Law/Policy tracking project to make sure members or relevant leaders are timely and properly informed of the development/intelligence, be responsible for the first review of English translation of important new laws, regulations, judicial guidelines, drafts and QBPC position papers in order to make sure that non-Chinese speaking leaders/member representatives can be duly informed and consulted for feedback/suggestions, and supervise the legal specialists’ professional work in research and drafting;

? Manage the IPR law/policy/judicial guideline column and related content on QBPC website to keep members timely updated with high quality and organized content;

? Lead the designing, planning and organizing the SOP and compliance policy trainings to new leaders/staff members on an annual basis.

Qualification

? At least 5 years working experience as attorney in prominent law firm (s) or as in-house counsel, and such working experience of 8 years or above is preferred; experience in practicing China IPR law or at least good understanding/education in relevant areas is preferred;

? Law degree of Bachelor or above from a top Chinese law school; law degree or study/research experience in other jurisdictions is preferred but not a must;

? Qualified to practice Chinese law;

? Excellent writing skills in English and fluent in oral communication;

? Dedicated, open-minded, self-motivated, self-disciplined, and outspoken in daily work, with good team work spirit.

The Quality Brands Protection Committee (QBPC) is a Beijing-based trade association representing the interests of more than 200 multinational companies with intellectual property interests in China. It was formed in March, 2000 and registered under the China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment (CAEFI). QBPC’s membership consists largely of subsidiaries of companies headquartered in North America, Europe, Asia and Oceania. QBPC has grown as a member-led organization with dedicated and professional office servicing its needs. QBPC’s governing body is the “Steering Council” which consists of the voting members of the organization together with those representatives of member companies elected to various leadership positions. As currently structured, QBPC has a Chairman, 6 Vice Chairman and 6 Committees, each with a Committee Chairman and 4 Vice Chairman (the “Executive Team”). In addition, there are 18 Industry Working Groups which act as a forum for members with similar commercial interests to work together on common projects.
