Job title: Senior UI Designer

We are looking for a User Interface Designer with the right aptitude and attitude. In this role you will be a key player in determining the future experiences of Blackboard’s Academic platform of products. We are looking for a competent front-end engineer to break new ground in the field of Web-based user interface and application design.

Day-to-day responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Work closely with Interaction Designers and Visual Designers to understand features and context for deliverables, such as sketching, wire-framing, Photoshop mockups and high fidelity prototyping.
- Produce pixel-perfect representations of designed work in code
- Work to include animations and rich css-driven transitions
- Product production-ready, cross-browser, high quality front-end code that accurately applies the Blackboard brand standards, internationalization considerations, and accessibility considerations.
- Work according to Product Development’s Sprint schedule
- Collaborate cross-functionally to audit and correct user interface bugs.


Core Required Skills/Experience

- 5+ years of user interface design and front-end development for Web applications with an outstanding body of work and an exceptional eye for detail.
- Extensive rapid prototyping experience creating and iteratively refining a user interface design to achieve delightful user experiences both in static designs and in interactive HTML/CSS.
- An outstanding body of work demonstrating UI solutions for the Web or desktop applications.
- Proven ability to find simple solutions to complex problems.
- Expert knowledge in HTML5, CSS3, browser compatibility and web standards for interactive prototypes, plus working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (primarily Photoshop)
- Competent knowledge of SAAS, JavaScript, Version control systems (preferably Git), and front-end frameworks (preferably Foundation)
- Ability to work closely with cross-functional teams located locally and in other continents, fluent oral English is required
- Bonus points for familiarity with AngularJS, Handlebars (basic knowledge)
