Mechanical Project Lead Designer

Location: Beijing

Roles and Responsibilities (specific accountabilities):
1. Provides guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and B&V policies. Assists in developing, maintaining and updating engineering standards.
2. Prepares a variety of complex engineering deliverables for larger or multiple projects. Performs complex research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection. Oversees collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work. Prepares complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles. Manages assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements. Independently applies advanced engineering techniques and analysis problems and methods.
3. Responsible for assisting with identification of key client interests and drivers on moderately complex projects and may determine the key clients in some instances. Communicates client interests and drivers to project team members and develops approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work on moderately complex projects.
4. Serves as a technical specialist and has knowledge and skill set to provide consultation and guidance to project teams in a particular practice area. Typically supports multiple projects on the complex technical challenges. Actively fosters knowledge management and provides mentoring. Develops and applies advanced engineering concepts and approaches to unique engineering problems.

Education and Experience Requirement
? Mechanical background or Major in Mechanical is required.
? Position requires at least 10 years power plant physical design related work experience. An expert in the use of CAD or other electronic tools.
? Position requires an individual that is well experienced in engineering design for mechanical discipline as well as other disciplines associated with a project. This person is expected to have a high level of expertise in review technical design, capable of solving difficult technical problems, as well as providing consultation and training in their field of expertise.
? The role is to supervise the efforts of other engineering technicians, including mentoring, instructing, and providing feedback on their performance. Person supervises an assigned staff of engineering technicians and support personnel.
? Determine staffing needs and work assignments perform personnel appraisals, work reviews and assists the staff with goal setting. Person and their staff make decisions that directly affect the success of the project. Position requires working knowledge of the other engineering disciplines for the purpose of coordinating with other departments, engineering managers, field personnel and clients.
? Be fluent in speaking, listening and writing in English. Good skills to communicate internally and externally.
