Position Description:

· The Air Traffic Management Researcher reports to Vice President of Boeing Research & Technology China (BR&T-C). This position is responsible for developing and executing research strategies, managing research projects and external research providers. The research is focus on Air Traffic Management technologies that will improve airport/airspace efficiencies in support of Boeing China’s country strategy. The selected candidate will also liaise with research collaborators in China and Boeing ATM R&D teams in the US. Occasional travel is required.

· Specific Responsibilities include:

1. Develop and execute research strategy for ATM technology for mutual benefits of Boeing and local aviation industry

2. Identify unique research capabilities in China; initiate new projects, through developing collaborative partnership with research providers, which align with BR&T-C’s research strategy.

3. Manage research projects and providers, and review project progress on a regular basis to ensure projects meeting schedule, budget and technical objectives.

4. Develop technical alliances with Boeing ATM research community in Boeing US to ensure alignment with Boeing’s business needs and maximize Boeing research investment value

5. Represent BR&T-C in ATM community in China

6. Become a catalyst for innovation and continuous improvement initiatives in daily research activities.

7. Other duties and responsibilities as required by management.

· This requisition is for an international, locally hired position. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the country where the position is located. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not on Boeing US-based payroll.

Qualifications:

Competencies

· Candidates must demonstrate in-depth knowledge in ATM technologies, procedures, concepts and regulations. In addition, candidate must have strong communication skills and ability to develop relationships with both internal and external partners and stakeholders in order to achieve business goals. Experience in research project management in an industrial environment is a plus. Candidates must be fluent in Chinese and English both orally and in writing.

Education/Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree and 5 or more years’ related experience, or a Master’s degree with 3 or more years’ related experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate in engineering, science or related major is required. Advanced degree is preferred.
