Title: Retail Analyst
Reports to: Research Director (UK)

Job Summary
The retail analyst is responsible for creating exceptional content and providing expert insight and analysis on the Chinese retail landscape, with a specific emphasis on grocery retailing, for Planet Retail’s intelligence platform.
Major responsibilities:
- Provide subject matter expertise in retail, with an emphasis on grocery retailing, via written analysis and commentary and verbal and PowerPoint presentations.
- Maintaining a set of retailer profiles and ensuring the accuracy of retailer sales and store data and forecasts within them. This will involve interpreting basic financial statements and analyzing key retailer metrics and financial ratios.
- Tracking the latest new and developments of the retailers and markets you are responsible for.
- Understand the operations and strategies of key domestic and international retailers in order to generate thoughtful analyses of their performance and future growth potential.
- Identify emerging trends in grocery retailing, such as go-to-market strategies, private label development, e-commerce, marketing and social media strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor or above degree.
- Minimum 2-3years experience in retail, consumer packaged goods or research related field.
- Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of various retail grocery channels and formats.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Mandarine.
- Must have strong analytical skills and the ability to analyze and interpret retailer financial data and other key metrics and synthesize industry information in order to draw conclusions and implications.
