We have an immediate need for a Corporate Legal Specialist to lead the general legal function at our China operation. The Specialist will be based in Shanghai but report to the Synaptics Legal Team in San Jose. The Specialist will be responsible for: (i) drafting, reviewing, and negotiating Chinese-language agreements; (ii) handling corporate governance for Synaptics’ subsidiaries in China and Taiwan; (iii) advising on Chinese, and if possible, Taiwanese legal issues that arise in the ordinary course of our business; (iv) ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations; and (v) most importantly, serving as a bridge between the U.S. Legal Team and Synaptics’ China and Taiwan operations.

The Specialist must be a native Mandarin speaker who is fluent in English and has significant experience drafting and reviewing Chinese-language contracts, identifying risks in those contracts, and summarizing those risks in English. Cantonese language ability is not required but would be a plus. The Specialist must have the drive and confidence to work independently. Our preference is that the Specialist have a law degree and at least five years of experience working as an in-house legal staff member or contract manager. Admission as an attorney in China is not required. We will offer a competitive salary and benefits package.
