Essential Responsibilities
• Leading GGO/Corporate legal team to provide strong leadership and comprehensive legal support on day-to-day operational matters for GE China as a holding company, including legal support for all GGO/Corporate functions in China;
• Be the point of contact for GGO/corporate legal initiatives. Lead legal support in adoption and implementation of corporate governance policy, productivity initiatives and providing advice on compliance matters;
• Supporting GGO/Corporate and businesses on investigations and complicated transactions. Provide leadership and legal advice for multi-functional teams, and work closely with business and in-house legal specialist in solving mixed legal and business issues;
• Providing commercial legal support to businesses, preferably with a focus on cloud, data, privacy, security, and litigation.
• Coordinating GE legal community across all GE units in China, be an active leading member of the China Legal Council, develop a working rhythm and program that drives cohesiveness of the legal team, best practice sharing and continued improvement in legal bench;
• Supervise the company secretarial service and other corporate governance matters, including communication with GE China’s board of directors
• Be an active leading member of the China JV Working Group to drive “one GE” approach in M&A and JV transactions and best practice sharing;
• Monitor legal development that could have an impact on GE China’s operation and investment activities, and inform the General Counsel of GE China on a timely basis;
• Maintain good contacts and working relationship with external stakeholders, including government bodies, industry associations, and law firms;
• Assist the General Counsel of GE China to build a strong, cohesive world class legal department in China;
• Assist on other projects and responsibilities as may be assigned by the General Counsel of GE China.
Qualifications/Requirements
• Strong, well-recognized legal skills and sound judgment in developing and implementing legal solutions;
• Demonstrated ability to lead and handle multiple priorities in a time pressured environment, and to develop process-driven solutions to issues;
• Experience in providing counsel to all levels of management;
• Energetic, action-oriented and self-motivated, with dedication to high standard legal service, and a good team player;
• Excellent organizational, communication and leadership skills;
• Advanced degree in law, with qualification in China and a foreign jurisdiction;
• Excellent Chinese and English language skills (both oral and written); and
• A minimum of 18 years of relevant legal work experience with leading law firms and/or MNCs.
