Position Description:
The Operations Systems Engineer (SE) will be considered to be an OS and application expert (Tier 2 and above support level) to support the latest platform across the MSN China site. The SE also works closely with MSN Global Ops and test teams to ensure systems integration is achieved during the product pre-release lifecycles. The SE works with both internal and external partners in performing IDC operations, daily maintenance and application upgrades and bug fixes. He/she needs to perform the script development as well.
Operations include:
· Windows platform design and deployment.
· Product Release Services. Testing and Commissioning of new Products and Technologies
· Data Centre Operations
· Service Operations
· Product Support Operations
· Script development
The position includes co-ordination of 3rd party relationships as well as 24x7 hands-on supports of operational activities relating to the creation and propagation of MSN products. Working closely with counterparts in the region and the US, the successful candidate will ensure that local operations comply with global standards and will represent local operational requirements in the ongoing definition of global standards.
Core responsibilities:
· Assist in the deployment of all products developed by the MSN Product groups running on Windows Server 2008, SQL Server 2008, and IIS 6, IIS7 & IIS7.5, working with developers and project managers on the operational issues of future releases.
· Work as Tier 1 24x7 phone call support.
· Service and website monitoring
· Script development according to the system operation automation requirement
· Troubleshoot applications on MSN products, properties and web sites and either resolve or escalate as appropriate team.
· Provide root cause analysis& troubleshooting on failures and produce reports on how to pro-actively avoid these failures in the future.
· Perform and document service operations processes and procedures including installation and testing of component upgrades, rollbacks, fail over, DNS, batch and backup specifications and verification, operations documentation.
· Work closely with the appropriate Service Managers and business owners to provide performance and reliability feedback to the relevant product group
Requirements/Qualifications:
· Computer Science Degree or equivalent desirable
· Minimum 2 years experience in Internet Technical Operations
· Deep Knowledge of Microsoft Windows server 2008, SQL server 2008 and MS Internet based technologies (IIS 6.0/7.0/7.5, MSMQ, ASP, JavaScript etc)
· MCSE, MCDBA, MCITP Certifications preferred. (IIS is must)
· Ability to demonstrate knowledge of monitoring, database management and fail over facilities using standard SQL tools.
· Strong Experience in production and development environments including strong backup and recovery, database and SQL tuning.
· Excellent problem solving skills, take good ownership of the work assigned, and deliver results timely, reliably and correctly.
· Detailed / Expert Level Knowledge with TCP/IP networking suite required
· Good script skills using PowerShell or VBS
· Good knowledge for system monitoring like SCOM
· Good knowledge for Microsoft DNS/AD/ISA/TMG
· Good knowledge for hyper-v and related skills
· Good experience for website operation and optimization
· Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills.

· Proven Track record of operation.
· Knowledge of HP and DELL server hardware.
· Proven experience with HTML / Web server implementation.
· Good sense for website security
