The mission of IBM System z Brand organization includes technical strategy, architecture and design, portfolio management, lifecycle management, product, solutions and project management. Ownership and responsibility to our product and solution development is shared between the US and China brand organizations.

We are looking for a Linux and Cloud System administrator, who will join the Technical Enablement team in GCG System z Brand organization. This role will be responsible for administration, configuration, troubleshooting and support on Linux on System z Server Environment. The job responsibilities include,

Follow local operating procedures and policies to implement new system hardware and software,

Monitor the ongoing operation of the servers and provide utilization reports to identify problems and corrective actions as needed.

Support and maintain Linux server and environment to ensure the server is upon running for IBM team’s access;

Manage team's expectations throughout the life cycle of a support request;

Collaborate with other IBM client facing teams;

Supporting sales teams with customer opportunities

Required

5-8 years of experience programming in an advanced engineering Linux environment

Advanced knowledge of protocols, including, but not limited to, TCP/IP, Storage Protocols, Fibre Channel, etc.

Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, operating systems and multi-threaded programming

Experience building high performance, complex systems

Experience with cloud infrastructure implementation and management with OpenStack

Knowledge and experience with System z, including z/VM and DASD is preferred

Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or related field

Example of programming experience in a Linux environment

Example of protocol experience
