General Role Description:
This position provides overall project, administration and financial leadership to the SHDR Entertainment Project Team working closely with the Senior Producer, Senior Program Manager and Supervising Technical Director. This position is primarily responsible for the day-to-day management of the project as a whole with specific emphasis in the following areas: · Budget Development, management, tracking and reporting; · Project management & administration · Development, issuance, and maintenance of the overall project schedule and milestones; · Procurement and shipping oversight; · Contract development and management; · Project consultant and vendor management.
Core Function & Responsibilities:
· Budget Development, Management, Tracking & Reporting: · Develops and implements the project wide budget/finance systems and procedures, providing or receiving input from individual show team Producers, Production Managers and Technical Directors to ensure that all project goals are financially met; · Responsible for developing, assembling and reporting the highest level of financial and administrative information to senior staff members; · Oversees and approves all project financial expenditures and activities; · Prepares, revises and administers all budget forecasts, re-baseline and revisions; · Prepares and tracks all project-wide funding for any scope changes or additions to scope. · Project Management & Administration: · Participates with other senior project members in the determination of production strategies ensuring cost efficiency, product quality, functionality and schedule compliance; · Develops and maintains project scope projections and matrixes; · Prepares and distributes project status reports to senior project members; · Provides oversight and guidance (in conjunction with other senior project members) to all project members in areas as they relate to and support entertainment programming or entertainment spending; · Develops and participates in Shanghai vendor qualification process; · Develops, implements and enforces all project wide systems, procedures and formats in areas such as: · Financial expenditures, approvals and tracking; · Administrative, “quality-of-life” personnel and travel related; · Project schedule maintenance, revisions and distribution; · Procurement, fabrication and shipping guidelines; · Vendor bid, scope of work, contract and change order (during fabrication and in field). · Develops guidelines for and oversees the closeout of all administrative and financial information including project documentation and vendor closeouts; · Participates in the hiring process of all project hires and consultants on the SHDR project teams; · Assures representation in all Shanghai vendor work sessions and coordinates information and project member travel schedules with production teams; · Assures the proper hand-over of all show systems to SHDR operations and maintenance staffs; · Responsible for all personnel management - “quality of life” issues – working in close cooperation with the Supervising Technical Director and Senior Producer. · Project Schedule & Milestones: · Develops and supervises maintenance of the project-wide schedule and milestone calendars; · Ensures that all project goals and deadlines are met and on target; · Communicates project goals and major milestones to senior staff members and other senior project members. · Fabrication, Procurement, & Vendor Management (in close cooperation with Sr. Technical Supervisor): · When necessary, functions as the senior point of contact for all DFI vendors. Coordinates with projects teams on all related issues; · Oversees line item procurement information into the project schedule and procurement plans; · Assures vendor compliance to budget and schedule; · Assists when necessary with the management of all vendor business issues including change-order approval and scheduling.
Technical Skills & Requirements:
· Must possess strong skills in the areas of production accounting, budget breakdown and control; · Prefer to demonstrate a working knowledge of design and operation of theatrical systems and controls, including audio, video, lighting, theatrical rigging, show control, scenic and special effects; · Must possess on-location or in-the-field experience with facility construction and entertainment systems fabrication and installation and must be familiar with terms used in construction drawings and ability to read and understand the information contained on drawings.
Leadership Skills: · Must possess strong managerial and communication skills for overall project management and leadership; · Must be able to develop, communicate clearly and supervise subordinates in project tasks, goals and timelines; · Must be able to develop, support and enforce, if necessary, Walt Disney Company corporate and project specific guidelines policies and procedures; · Must be able to objectively evaluate subordinates and assist them in establishing clear individual goals and objectives.
Education, Training Knowledge & Desired Qualifications: · Candidate will possess a minimum B.A. in Construction Science, Construction Management or Engineering, or equivalent degree; · Candidate will have a minimum (8) years professional experience in project management and administration; · Candidate must have computer spreadsheet and word processing skills; · Must possess a basic knowledge of quality entertainment related vendors or entertainment system providers; · Must demonstrate an ability to provide strong leadership as well as exhibit exceptionally strong communication skills. |
