LP Amina is seeking a R&D Chemical/Process Simulation Engineer to join the Research & Development Team.
LP Amina's Research & Development Team is developing new technologies for converting unconventional feedstocks such as coal and gas and biomass into liquids. New production processes and integration into existing plants are being developed to fulfill program objectives.
A hands-on, energetic engineer is needed for this position. The candidate preferably needs to have substantial experience.
EDUCATION:
- M.S. degree in Engineering. Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering or related field is advantageous.
EXPERIENCE:
- Seven years of experience, preferably in the chemicals, energy or similar process industry. Experience must be such that the incumbent is clearly recognized as being capable of project and design assignments beyond the ability of a basic professional engineer.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- You will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects that will allow you to further apply and develop your talents, skills, and experience.
- Work within a chemical processes development team, and be involved in the full life cycle of projects, beginning with developing new chemical process concepts to commercial scale demonstration.
- With flowsheets and mass balance calculations, help to outline new chemical synthesis routes for the purposes of producing new products from alternative non-petroleum feedstocks such as from: coal, natural gas and biomass.
- Use process simulation software, to provide insights into minimizing projected capital expenditures and maximizing projected product revenues by assessing competing conceptual design options.
- Develop economic feasibility assessments to deploy capital wisely with a view toward ultimately transforming the energy and material industries.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering
- Proficiency of process modeling with Aspen PlusTM or Aspen HysysTM
- Proficiency with MatLabTM and AutoCADTM.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:
- A thorough knowledge of English is required to perform analyses and studies in-depth, make professional presentations and keep up with technical advancements
OTHER:
- Must have a thorough knowledge of engineering practices and economic principles, calculation methods, design details, codes, standards and specifications.
- M.S. degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
- Process simulation experience with Aspen PlusTM or Aspen HysysTM
- Ability to develop process integration and related economics
- Demonstrated ability to carry out process revamping.
- Demonstrated ability to carry out laboratory/pilot research and familiarity with industrial operation.
- Prepare problem solving approval plans and schedules; provide coordination and work direction as required for the preparation of designs, processes, reports, correspondence and related data and assure the efficiency, adequacy and conformance to overall objectives of the project.
- Formulate the basis for an engineering study or project, or design in any basic or special engineering field by analyzing and evaluating all data pertinent to the assignment. Evaluate data relating to the project scope, the effect on an existing installation, economic value, and long-range planning and budgetary considerations.
- Lead and recommend new continuous improvement solutions for installations or modifications to improve existing facilities and standardization within specific fields of endeavor. Estimate costs, prepare justifications and complete expenditure requests as required.
- Support project execution and project proposals and initiate detailed work outline and make decisions as to basic processes, and/or equipment. Perform work and or delegate work to other engineers and final development of specialized or technical proposals and studies of proposed projects.
- Discuss, coordinate and resolve problems with personnel throughout LP Amina and with organizations outside the company. Act as a technical consultant when required.
- Lead the implementation and operation of completed R&D solutions.
