The Candidate

As our Associate Design Director You will be a creative and influential leader, have China/APAC experience, have a solid understanding of how to drive and deliver projects in the China market, drive and encourage creativity in yourself and those around you, positively manage people/processes and projects, have gravitas and be approachable, trustworthy, motivational, innovative, credible, intuitive, work on own initiative and collaboratively and as part of a team, adopt a hand’s on approach, instill a “can do attitude”, be both responsive and proactive and have a real passion for creativity!

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Develop highly creative Concept Designs and Development to win the best projects in the local and China market.
2. Development of strategically aligned workplace concepts.
3. Hands on approach and involvement with marketing and winning business.
4. Slick client presentation and negotiations with pitch team, adding creative value and edge to nail the job!
5. Team building and mentoring junior designers to assist them in realizing their full potential.
6. Involvement in industry bodies, attending functions and building networks.
7. Continual research and communication of global trends and benchmark design.
8. Be integral in determining standards for project development and delivery.
9. Will work directly with senior management to develop major business initiatives.
10. Takes lead in directing interior design market development strategies.
11. Works with other regional offices to assist in improving their Interior Design capabilities, staff, and technical expertise as requested.

Qualification:

1. Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture or related field.
2. 10-15+ years of experience as a senior creative designer, with a focus on commercial /corporate interiors.
3. Strong knowledge of the creative design process, including FF&E, furniture systems and specifications, color and materials.
4. Superior pitching & presenting skills with the ability to inspire those around and sell creative concept and design at all levels.
5. Previous experience of managing and developing a team of hungry creative designers.
6. Software skills to include AutoCad & SketchUp as well as knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator and Microsoft Office.
7. Flexibility to focus on a single client with a variety of project types or multiple, concurrent projects in various stages of development.
8. Ability to work well in a multi-cultural, multi lingual team environment.
9. Understand and communicate creative design ideas and give direction quickly.
10. Proven successful track record of selling creative concept design and winning high end projects in a very competitive market.
