Role Description

Job Summary – (Role Summary)



Support Greater China’s growth objective of developing the right hotels, in the right location, with the right owner, under the right brand. Achievement will be through (i) maintaining robust due diligence, feasibility and deal approval processes, (ii) building a team focused on effective market planning, strategic opportunity assessment and accurate quantification of forecast trading performance, and (iii) providing development insight and alignment for distribution planning exercises.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities – (Key Activities, maximum 5 activities)



Utilize internal and external data sources, including industry and non-industry strategy consultants, to develop a comprehensive knowledge base for use in deal evaluation and strategic market planning exercises.

Utilise market and consumer insights to make recommendations on brand fit, facility profiles, financial return, compliance with IHG Global Decision Guidelines and risks to successful project achievement.

Work with developers to put together effective proposals and responses to RFP’s . Communicate decisions and answer all concerns related to the feasibility and business planning processes.

Provide Development insight, alignment and project management support to growth oriented strategic planning exercises. Ensure buy-in from all stakeholders, alignment on key conclusions and achievability of execution.

Manage Development inputs into the annual Business Planning and Long Range Planning processes. Ensure targets are (i) based on a market insights, (ii) achievable and (iii) stretch the business to maximize growth opportunities.

Provide internal and external stakeholders accurate reporting on deal activity, pipeline size and movements, market insights which affect forecast deal activity and other reporting central to providing an accurate picture of our growth in Greater China.


Role Qualifications and Technical Skills

Required Skills –



Demonstrated ability to effectively lead a team and train and develop new members.

Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills for the purpose of providing information to multiple internal and external stakeholders.

Ability to build consensus across a broad range of stakeholders including Development, Finance, Operations, Sales and Marketing and Legal.

Demonstrated project management experience in organizing, planning and executing large scale projects from conception through implementation.

Demonstrated proficiency in building and implementing statistical models in a variety of applications such as market financial and operational disciplines.

Advanced understanding of EXCEL, Access or other research-related databases.




Qualifications –



Bachelor’s degree or Master degree in Economics, Real Estate, Finance, Hotel Management, or a relevant field of work or an equivalent combination of education and word-related experience.




Experience –



10+ years progressive work related experience with demonstrated proficiency in multiple disciplines/technologies/processes related to the position as well as some experience managing teams and/or significant complex projects. 5-7 years managing teams and/or significant complex projects. Experience in analytics required.
