Role Summary/Purpose

The EHS manager is responsible for creating, implementing and maintaining the business strategy of the EHS programs. Responsibilities may include determining the strategy on VPP, Global Star, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, safety and Chemical regulatory requirements. Reports to the most senior EHS manager at the business or a manufactoring plant GM.

Essential Responsibilities

•Set global GE Healthcare EHS priorities, metrics, goals and requirements
•Develop global programs, tools and training to assist site EHS managers in ensuring compliance with legal requirements, implementing GE EHS programs, meeting business expectations and ensuring continuous improvement; ensure robust pipeline and process for VPP/Global Star/EHS excellence certifications
•Lead compliance and program audits of manufacturing sites
•Coach site EHS personnel on successful closure of findings/recommendations
•Analyze and communicate performance against expectations, provide feedback, establish and track required actions to improve performance
•Provide technical and compliance support to site EHS managers; assist in responding to significant incidents and government requests/notices
•Represent GE Healthcare on GE EHS Taskforces in preparing comments on new regulations & standards, enhance GE programs and expectations; network with other GE and external EHS professionals; disseminate information and guidance across the business to enable GE Healthcare to meet new requirements
•Interface with health and safety regulatory agencies as needed
•Provide leadership, support and training to build technical, management and leadership skills of site EHS professionals
•Engage leadership support for EHS and coach operations leaders to enable them to successfully discharge their leadership responsibilities for H&S

Quality Specific Goals:
1.Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position
2.Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines
3.Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required
4.Identify opportunities to partner with Quality to support QMS initiatives.
5.Provide technical support to teams developing CAPA for issues involving personnel Health and Safety.

Qualifications/Requirements

1.Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline
2.10-15 years EHS compliance and program experience across multiple sites for a large corporation or consulting firm
3.Must have expert knowledge of U.S./ European/Asian EHS regulations and standards, experience in preparing government submissions and demonstrated effective interaction with regulatory agencies and senior business leaders
4.Excellent leadership, program and project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
5.Ability to communicate using English and Chinese

Desired Characteristics

1.International experience and working knowledge of EHS regulatory schemes in Europe and Asia
2.Masters degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline
3.Technical H&S certification (CIH, CSP, CPE); six sigma green belt (GE only)
4.Experience with OSHA VPP or other H&S excellence certification programs, (ISO 14001; OHSAS18001) : SGE qualification
5.Experience in supporting Environmental issues
6.MSDS, Chemical Registration, Process Safety Management, Product Stewardship expertise are a plus
