THE RESEARCH UNIT
The Research Unit of GPEA provides research and investigation expertise for various program projects ranging from desktop research, such as online/database search, information and data gathering and analysis, to in-the-field investigation when needed. Various methodology and equipment/tools will be utilized during work.

The post holder is responsible for providing tactical and technical advice on the use of equipment, managing equipment and providing logistics support to the use of the equipment for all kinds of campaigning activities in mainland China.
The post holder will be based in Beijing, line-managed by the GPEA Research Unit Head and is responsible for all matters related to the use of equipment research, action and other campaigning activities in mainland China.

Overall purpose of the job
The Equipment & Logistics Coordinator is responsible for providing tactical and technical advice on the use of equipment, managing equipment and providing logistics support to the use of the
equipment for all kinds of campaigning activities in mainland China.
Scope
The post holder is line managed by the Research Unit Head and is responsible for all matters related to the use of equipment research, action and other campaigning activities in mainland China.
Major functions / responsibilities
Conceptual tasks, Strategy development and/or Project management
- Provide tactical and technical advice to project teams on the effective use of equipment for
research, action and other campaigning activities.
- Enable the capability of research, action and campaigning through giving strategic advice on the
purchase and use of new equipment, finding innovative usage and advocating for maximum utilization of existing equipment.
- Identify and experiment new equipment and tools that fit research, action and campaigning needs.
- Periodically review the suitability of the equipment and warehouse in meeting the needs of the
program work as a whole and make recommendations for improvement and change.
Implementation
- Provide off-site and on-site logistics support to the effective use of equipment in research, action
and other campaigning activities, during planning, preparation and implementation phases.
- Maintain and update equipment inventory, and make sure equipment are in good order, have proper insurance and ready to be used. Keep track of equipment during usage and ensure its safe return.
Keep records of damage and loss.
- Manage equipment storage in office and warehouse. Ensure storage space and methods maximize the life and performance of equipment.
Support/ Coaching/ Leadership
- Champion the effective and innovative use of equipment in campaigns.
- Provide or organize training to staff and volunteers on the use of equipment.
- Act as contact person for equipment-related matters with other Greenpeace offices.
Compliance/ Keeping Framework Conditions
- Develop and implement system to keep track of equipment in storage and use, including database of equipment and their conditions.
- Develop and enforce protocols related to equipment use and storage.
- Ensure safe storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials. Ensure that any contaminated
equipment is fully decontaminated and cleaned prior to storage and maintenance, or is properly
disposed.
- Prepare budget proposals on equipment-related cost. Handle financial transaction related to
equipment, including purchase, transportation, insurance, storage of equipment, as instructed by
Line Manager and according to Greenpeace financial policies.
