Thank you for your interest in applying for this Toxics Campaigner role. We hope that this pack gives you an overview of who we are and what we do, plus details of the job and the people you will be working with. Everyone who works for Greenpeace is passionate about what we are trying to achieve. We have big ambitions for our work and we believe it is an immensely rewarding and inspiring place to work.

Who We Are

Mission of Greenpeace
Greenpeace stands for positive change through action. Our courage, independence and global reach help us defend nature and promote peace.

History of Greenpeace
In 1971, motivated by their vision of a green and peaceful world, a small team of activists set sail from Vancouver, Canada, in an old fishing boat. Their goal was to protest peacefully against U.S nuclear testing in Amchitka, a tiny island off the West Coast of Alaska. Amchitaka is one of the world's most earthquake-prone regions and home to endangered animals.
Greenpeace East Asia has been set up in since 1997 to fight climate change, stop toxic pollution, ensure food security, end illegal deforestation and defend the oceans.
Greenpeace East Asia has offices in Hong Kong, Beijing, Taipei and Seoul. Environmental problems know no borders, and Greenpeace recognizes the importance of regional offices that work together to achieve effective solutions for a sustainable future.
Surging economic development in East Asia has brought widespread prosperity, but has also taken a severe environmental toll, both regionally and in the world.

The Food & Agriculture Campaign Team

The Food and Agriculture team is consisted of a group of friendly, passionate, hard-working and idealist people. The team is a center of positive energy and fun in Greenpeace East Asia office.

Here we share the vision of an ecological agriculture system, which protects the environment, sustains a decent life for the local communities, and provide safe and healthy food for people. Together we investigate and expose the environmental/human cost and food safety scandals of the over use of pesticide and chemical fertilizer, the risk of GMOs; we confront the industrial and political power which profit from the chemical-intensive agricultural model; we mobilize the public and take direct action to create positive change; and we lobby for policy/investment that support ecological farming practices.

The Post of Food & Agriculture Campaigner

There are few routine tasks for the job. One day you might be in the countryside doing investigation and talking with farmers. The other day you might need to make a keynote speech at an international conference or negotiate with a multinational corporation.

Together with the team, you need to strategically plan campaign projects which can deliver real change; conduct desktop research and investigate in the field; build alliance with various stakeholders; be creative in designing communication materials and public activities; answer media and public inquiries; and lobby for positive policy changes.

It is going to be a very challenging but rewarding job. And Greenpeace will provide a variety of training and staff development programs to help people grow.
