-For our Corporate Technology (CT) in Beijing, Siemens is looking for a Research Scientist at the earliest opportunity.
Missions and goals
-Responsible for the competitiveness of the complete localized product portfolio, e.g. gear type compressors STC-GC and STC-GV range, single shaft compressors, mainly STC-SV range, and local steam turbine drives SST-150 respectively SST-600EP. In this role he/she is supporting the product strategy for these products within the CP market support and portfolio strategy.
-Implemente the measures to increase the competitiveness of the product in close cooperation with many internal and external functions. He/she takes into account customer requirements, local/regional conditions. He/she is continuously evaluating the market requirements, the competition scenario, unique selling propositions, etc...
-Embed into the overall Product Line Management organization and ensures that the local requirements will be part of the portfolio management in compression.
-Continuously evaluating the market requirements, the competition scenario, purchase-deciding factors, unique selling propositions, etc...
-Meets customers, attend conferences and trade fairs and meet Corporate Account Mangers to identify market requirements for the product portfolio within Chinese market.
-Evaluates and reports on performance indicators which are relevant for the local Chinese product portfolio (e.g. quantities, target price reached, “time-to-break-even”, EBIT, EV, sales, etc.) and on scorecards. He/she is acting as the Gatekeeper for all product modifications.

What are my responsibilities?
Product Analysis
-Analyses local competitiveness of the complete localized product portfolio, e.g. gear type compressors STC-GC and STC-GV range, single shaft compressors, mainly STC-SV range, and local steam turbine drives SST-150 respectively SST-600EP, especially in terms of performance/technology, cost position and quality
-Realizes benchmarks and reverse engineering (incl. technical analyses of direct competitor products)
-Analyses product related deviations (NCC).
-Drives/supports engineering and order execution
-Evaluates the product performance indicators to define competitive position of relevant product
-Meets customers
-Design care - responsible for train components
-Design care - initiation beneficial design solutions – development
-Advancement - drive optimization of existing components e.g. within Design-to-cost
Product Improvement
-Secure and develop product knowledge, documentation, processes etc. and harmonization for gear type compressors STC-GC and STC-GV range, single shaft compressors, mainly STC-SV range, and local steam turbine drives SST-150 respectively SST-600EP
-Establish SST-600 EP knowledge base and support a reliable order execution based on SST-600
-Ensures the sustainability and applicability of product standards
-Attend and support troubleshooting activities
-Defines measures for cost reduction
-Evaluations, drafts, tests, documentation of existing products
-Partly interface function to Siemens CP global network, support of purchasing and marketing & sales in China
Others
-Optimization of customized machine conceptions
-Drive harmonization of internal documentation, e.g. calculation results, and support customer documentation
-Attendance at meetings with customers, e.g. design reviews, incl. preparation of necessary presentations
-Support of Order Execution Processes

What do I need to qualify for this job?
Knowledge
-University degree in mechanical engineering with focus on turbo machinery, fluid engineering, thermodynamics, heat engineering, process engineering, mechanical design
-Excellent knowledge on rotor dynamics and dynamics of machines
-Knowledge of oil and gas industry, air separation, petrochemics/refinery industry, general chemical applications
-Typical industry Standards, regulations and guidelines (especially API)
-Skilled in MS Windows, MS Office and Linux
-MS Office applications
-Chinese / technical English - Fluent English (written and spoken)
-Knowledge of other foreign languages most welcome
-Work experience is desirable, but graduates are welcome as well
-Intercultural experience is welcome
-Initiative, learning aptitude, analytical skills, focus on results, assertiveness, ability to communicate, customer orientation
