Responsibilities:
- Government policy and issues tracking:
* Monitor and track government direction, regulations, other initiatives as well as opportunities and issues that are relevant to and will impact Company's business in China
- Business and site government relations support:
* Support China G/PA manager in working with businesses/functions and plant sites in China to understand needs, assist in planning and implementing government relations initiatives accordingly
* Interface with target officials on a daily basis in setting up meetings, gathering information, liaison or coordination of other government relations activities on all corporate initiatives, working with external consultants where needed
* Monitor, track and integrate with various businesses/functions and sites in China on all government interactions and relationship building activities
* Support China G/PA manager in monitoring and handling issues that can impact Company's business in China
* Help establish awareness and understanding of Company's business, positioning and commitment among target officials
- Business development support:
* Assist in researching and providing updates on latest government regulations relevant to specific business development projects, mergers and acquisitions or divestiture projects
* Assist in identifying potential risks and providing analysis and evaluation of potential projects from a government affairs perspective
* Co-ordinate government relations efforts to facilitate project approval and execution
Experience & Skills Required:
- University graduates
- 5-7 years solid experience in government relations and public affairs, especially in supporting manufacturing plants
- Experience in working at multinational companies
- Understanding of Chinese government structure, culture, way of working
- Ability to have clear communications in Chinese and English
- Good interpersonal skills, ability to have effective communications and relationships with government officials
- High in integrity, ability to work under stress, high adaptability and in embracing change and challenge, self motivated
Experience & Skills Preferred:
- Good connections with government bodies in Shanghai
- Knowledge and experience in the chemical or related industries
- Knowledge of Southern China local government relations
- Knowledge and experience in working with trade and business associations
- Major in economics or business
