The successful candidate will contribute to the team-based execution of projects in the discipline of animal and human vaccine media & process development. The media and processes are mainly perfusion processes which require the knowledge on the perfusion technology and in addition to microcarrier proceeses and their applications. This position will be primarily responsible for developing scaleable and reproducible bioprocesses and for supporting technical execution on customer site in China or the transfer to the technology transfer group within the R&D organisation. This position will contribute to the execution of multiple projects in various stages of development or tech transfer utilizing platform processes as appropriate during process development. In this position, you will be responsible for well defined projects. You will manage a group of scientists and supervise the design and execution of specific projects, specialize in multiple disciplines, meet assigned deliverables, and prioritize activities according to work scope and resource allocation.

Main areas of responsibilities include:
Leading a group of scientists/engineers working on multiple development and tech transfer projects in Beijing (China) to include:
? Developing robust perfusion processes and novel vaccine processes
? Tech transfer of development projects into manufacturing ensuring floor support for campaign success
? Experimental design (Design of Experiment) , analysis of data, drawing logical data based conclusions with applicability to project decisions. Providing regular internal and client updates.
? Proficiency with antibody based CHO fed-batch processes and general cell culture equipment including troubleshooting
? Maintenance of lab facility, equipment upkeep and technical improvements.
? Provide routine manufacturing support for yield trending and troubleshooting of late stage processes.
? Active group management with emphasis on employee development, continual improvement and training.
? Keeping abreast of changing technologies in the biopharmaceutical industry and the introduction of new methodologies to the development groups.
? Assist lab execution as needed.
? Presentation of development activities at industry meetings and within the organisation
? Management of development and tech transfer project budgets and timelines.

Job Requirements

Required Education and Experience and Skills
? Degree in engineering or life sciences (Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Eng, Bioeng, Biotechnology): Ph.D with 4+ years in NA or Europe
? English (fluent written and oral) as well as Mandarin, German beneficial
? Ideally Chinese nationality
? Ideally expert in cell culture media development
? Expertise in vaccine processes
? Expertise in perfusion processes and microcarrier related bioapplications
? Must have hands on experience running cell culture and/or fermentation and have proven expertise in area of study.
? Demonstrated ability to design and execute scientific studies with technical excellence and relevant results.
? An understanding of manufacturing fit and tech transfer/scale-up experience is required.
