Position: Senior Engineer Batteries

Main goals and objectives:

1. the provision of specific knowledge in investigation of electrical and electronical components of electrically powered vehicles (E-traction, hybridic powered cars)
2. the provision of specific know-how about battery operation and quality related issues in use of electric batteries of cars
3. the creation of standardized and acknowledged test procedures in the VW Group
4. the direct communication of e-traction related issues in the Volkswagen Group laboratories running investigation on electric parts as well as discussion of general technical issues in public working groups

Your Responsibilities:

– Planning, operation and coordination of chemical and/or physical and/or functional test and investigation projects of materials of electric and electronic components.
– Tracking the product quality of electric and electronic components of electric or hybrid powered vehicles in the field and carrying out problem analyses from material and electric point of view and regarding observation of legal requirements
– Set up training courses regarding Quality aspects and laboratory test possibilities for electric components in hybrid and electric powered cars
– Coordination of cooperation with VW laboratories involved to electric components
– Development of measurement systems for diagnostics ofbatteries (e.g. Li-Ion, others)
– Definition of requirements on the measurement equipment,
Basic approaches to battery diagnostics, charging compensation systems, aging and lifecycle aspects, test procedures to control real thermal affects to the charging/decharging cycling,
– Definition of quality aspects regarding the behaviour of battery cells under different environmental conditions, the isolation and cooling of the charging system and coordination of laboratory activities to achieve those measurement procedures
– Carrying out test procedures and documentation of the results
– Reporting the investigation results in form of lab reports as well as presentations to QA and Technical Development and Management of QA and Technical Development
– Create internal test procedure standards (PV) for electric motion and fine tune the procedures with other VW laboratories as well as with Technical Development
– Participate in VW intern working groups as well as in public research associations (e.g. VDA working groups, China Association for Quality (CAQ), etc.) to provide information exchange on newest technical and quality state of the art with other OEMs

Working experience (in years):
5-7 years in technical development or quality assurance in electrical engineering, preferably in Automotive Industry or railway industry
experienced in development or quality assurance batteries for automotive use
Remarks (Language, IT-Knowledge, Certificates etc.):
Chinese and fluent German and/or English
