Windows Azure Operations Manager (Eng Service Engineer 2)

Windows Azure is looking for an experienced Service Engineer who lives and breathes site up, availability, and reliability. Individuals in this role are accountable for designing and driving operability into the platform, leading “run-it” execution in our operational silos (incident management, T3 customer support, platform deployment, platform build-out), and leading service restoration during a crisis. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate breadth and depth managing complex, highly available, and scalable services.
Responsibilities include:
-Host incident Conference Bridge and actively drive the incident to be mitigated or resolved by expertise and leveraging needed proper resources from various teams.
-Improve Azure platform health status by identifying monitoring issue, operation process and software bugs or defects, and driving for fix or improvements.
-Collaborate with Azure development teams to analyze incident root cause and repair items from operations perspective.
-Actively communicate and closely collaborate with other team members on general inquiries, or some of customer facing activities.
-Take on shift responsibility as Azure production live site incident manager, including both China and Global Azure, during China day time.
Requirements
-Very broad experience across development, like Java/C++/C#, and operations, like internet services deployment, hosting and customer support.
-Cool and smart with strong problem solving ability under critical circumstances and high pressure.
-Very good written and oral English skill and very good communication skill.
-5+ years of related software development or operations experience is required.
-Work in shifts that may include weekends and/or holidays.
-Solid software design and programming skills and mindset.
-Solid scripting skills. (powershell, BASH, python, Perl, etc)
-Solid knowledge in Computer Science, includes but not limited to data structure, algorithm, etc
-Ability and willingness to rapidly learn and work independently
-Experience and ability to act as a good team player, good communication skill
-Knowledge and experience in full software development lifecycle
Any experience in following categories is a plus:
-Experience of operating large scale of production internet public facing services
-Knowledge and experience in OS internals (including Linux)
-Knowledge and experience in Windows development (COM, COM+) & debugging
-Knowledge and experience in automotive systems (e.g. CAN bus, MOST, etc.)
-Working and successfully delivering products with remote teams
