Microsoft Services is focused on delivering a mix of end to end solution guidance and artifacts for prioritized scenarios, with Applied Incubation leading the charge. In FY14, our focus areas range from delivering solutions for National Clouds or delivering a city to their CityNext vision in the public sector, helping delivering omni-channel experiences for retail customers, and helping device manufactuers deliver new services and revenue streams by enabling scenarios like Predictive Maintenance. As these initiatives graduate, new ones will be proposed and be added to the incubation pipeline.
The team:
Applied Incubation explores new opportunities for Microsoft Services. We act as a fast-filter to clarify and incubate complex cloud opportunities that accelerate product evolution and revenue for Microsoft and Enterprise Services. As a member of the Applied Incubation team, you’ll have a chance to create and drive the future of professional services as applied to cloud workloads of all types for governments and large customers across the world.

Job description:
The Applied Incubation team is currently looking for an architect that take the lead for one to three initiatives. This will entail working with our enterprise sales groups, professional services stakeholders, leading architecture integration efforts that span Microsoft and partner solutions with Services-created IP, driving pilots with a handful of select WW customers, and capturing the lessons learned into IP and assets that can be used at scale.
Activities and responsibility include:
Partnering with key product group, sales and services stakeholders to establish, lead and execute the vision for an incubation initiative
Work with our Solutions Engineering team and others to define and realize the architecture for any software assets developed for the incubation initiative
Work with industry sales teams to gain better understanding of business context and relevant data for the underlying business scenario for the incubation initiative, develop presentation content and co-deliver customer briefings with the intent to drive customer pilots to validate the incubation initiative goals and IP
Advise and enage customer pilots as appropriate, partnering with Centers of Excellence, Solution TAP, product group Customer Advisory Team (CAT) and local field teams on pilot delivery, as well as leading efforts to harvest IP to be used in the graduation of the incubation initiative
Present content at internal events such as TechReady and communication vehicles such as DriveTime to communicate aspects of the scenario to the appropriate audiences. Depending on the event and audience context, these presentations can include the business case, architectural approach, best practices and guidance for sales, delivery, and support. These presentations will often be co-developed and/or co-delivered with partner teams where incubation initiative IP graduates to, such as a Center of Excellence.
Partner with related initiative leads to identify where initiatives can potentially be combined to bring added value to the customer and addition revenue to Microsoft.
Participate as a contributing member of the Applied Incubation team, including proposing and scoping future incubation initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience:
-Should have a degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent work experience
-Strong related solution architecture experience, with an understanding of cloud design patterns
-At least 8 years work experience in technology consulting, consulting and solution presales, solution design, envisioning, planning, deployment, benefits analysis and management
-Solid understanding of interoperability issues and the strengths and weaknesses of platforms and products, and able to provide a trusted voice at the decision-making table
-Executive-level interpersonal, verbal, written and presentation skills
-Ability to communicate and write with clarity and simplicity
-Forming and leading virtual teams and collaborating across large, matrixed organizations
-Idealy have experience deploying a cloud-based application into production
-Web API, SQL, NoSQL, OData, OAuth understanding and experience strongly desired
-Travel is a moderate component of this position, focused primarily on pilots and regional engagement as needed.
-This role requires an individual who is comfortable dealing with ambiguity and can engage with external customers and across Microsoft with a fair level of autonomy.
