Job description
Security Specialist perform one or a combination of disciplines responsible for supporting components of the IBM Corporate Security program. These components include physical security, emergency planning, information protection, and incident management; they aid management in protecting people/property/information and conducting investigation. The physical security element ensures a safe and secure environment for IBM people and property through a number of measures. Risk analysis of proposed and existing IBM sites examines internal and external threats to IBM to aid management in determining where to situate and what, if any, additional security measures are warranted for a given site. These activities also support the business acquisition and divestitures process. Support the installation and maintenance of security equipment and tools, such as high security key systems and badge readers to secure restricted space. The Emergency Planning program provides a means by which IBM ensures its board of directors that every IBM site globally is prepared to manage crises whether they are caused by natural or man-made disasters.
The Security Specialist acts as advisers to the business, government contact, and implementer of security clearances. Develop global security policies and procedures. The employee guides functional objectives or technologies.
Works under the general direction and in support of a senior staff member. Works independently, with minimal review for completeness, qualitative and goal-oriented measures, implementing and maintaining Corporate Security directives.
Works on problems that are general in scope, and performs analysis of data to facilitate decision-making.
Performs duties to meet corporate requirements for risk analysis, crisis management, physical security, and maintenance of the organization's programs in general.

Prepares process documents and updates, crafts professional reports, and supplies security-related training and education to the greater IBM population.
Participates in the audit process for area of responsibility.
Participates in projects and operational duties relating to emergency planning, risk assessment, acquisition and divestitures, and physical security.
Perform processes and practices assessments and lead re-engineering efforts to leverage opportunities for efficiency improvements.
Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Environment: Professional knowledge related to incumbent's function/business unit and its processes. Strong background/experience with clients. Investigation skills for all type of incidents.
- Communication/Negotiation: Advise other professionals. Effectively utilize group dynamics. Negotiate to define approaches and goals.

- Contribution/Leadership: Provides ongoing technical /operational guidance to lead professional work teams, conducts special projects, or manages department(s) (national or international). Understand department/ functional mission and vision. Defines and decides objectives within specified business concept or project and may have responsibility for tools and assigned resources.
