As part of China Software & Analytics CoE team, the Lead Data Scientist will contribute to cross-disciplinary team to develop and deploy next-generation algorithms for industrial assets diagnostics/prognostics, decision-making and operation optimization systems

Essential Responsibilities

The Lead Data Scientist will work with multi-disciplinary teams in junction with partners in GE business units, to research and develop new methods for information extraction, knowledge representation, data manipulation, reasoning and modeling for application to a diverse set of industrial, service and financial problems. You will demonstrate a strong technical background and independently execute innovative projects in areas of data mining, statistical and machine learning models, knowledge representation, information extraction and fusion, and data compression. Potential application areas include, but not limited to remote monitoring and diagnostics, operation/service optimization and financial portfolio risk assessment.

In this role you will:
• Build innovative computational models for enabling better analytics, data mining, and data manipulation technologies.
• Bridge novel semantics, domain knowledge, and machine learning technologies to provide meaningful analysis of large scale datasets.
• Design and construct solutions to enterprise-wide problems for industrial, service and finance business problems.
• Develop strategic plans, manages projects and guides teams to create innovative solutions.
• Demonstrate breadth as well as depth in problem solving.
• Innovate, patent, and publish as appropriate.
• Identify and respond to changing situations and opportunities.
• Execute technical assignments to foster new product designs for GE businesses.
• Implement innovative software systems to solve key business challenges and create new products.
• Acquire technical knowledge of technologies and proofs of concept.
• Effectively communicate technical analyses and results to business management
• Fluent oral and written communication in English & Chinese.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Doctorate degree in Computer Science or related discipline (such as Engineering, Mathematics, Applied Statistics) OR Master's degree in Computer Science or related discipline with at least 3 years of experience in developing analytics and data mining technologies.
• Experience with prototyping and developing data mining applications using statistical software packages (Matlab, R, etc.). Object oriented programming experience (Java, C++, etc.).
• Experience designing and developing scalable software architectures to manage and manipulate massive-scale datasets, including architectures for big data capture, representation, information extraction and fusion.
• Experience with big data computing concepts such as parallel computing, distributed computing and/or cloud computing, and related technologies such as Hadoop and/or other NoSQL technologies, Cassandra, Gleenplum and more
• Experience with Java and database technologies, such as relational, hierarchical and graph databases, distributed data file systems, data federation and query optimization
• Demonstrated ability to implement high quality analytics or software in diverse areas
