Position Details
· Contributes to development of standard operating procedures and performance standards for contract manufacturer (CM) logistics operations.
· Monitors the performance of carriers, logistics intermediaries and the CM logistics function and drives continuous process improvement to ensure targets are met.
· Ensures internal and CM reverse logistics processes are executed.
· Acts as the Point of Contact for logistics escalations - addressing issues, as well as investigates root causes and develops corrective actions.
· Monitors and reports on transportation flow through system – especially expedites and quarter-end shipments for revenue.
· Optimizes modes and routing to minimize logistics costs. Supports carrier/other negotiations to drive Logistics costs down.
· Evaluates/assists in alternate shipping solutions to mimimize premium freight requirements while achieving required delivery timing
· Reviews CM Premium freight requests to analyze validity of requested freight deltas
· Assures compliance with all Customs regulations. Drives necessary certifications and licensing to assist in logistics efficiency
· Evaluates monthly Direct Order Fulfilment freight and duty costs for validity
· Evaluates and reduces duties where possible by utilizing consolidation and other methods to reduce costs.
· Assists with logistics integration strategies and execution for M&A activities.
· Evaluates packaging solutions and supports packaging cost / logistics cost-benefits analysis.
· Reviews the effectiveness of current logistics and or transportation processes, determines area for improvements, and reports findings to facilitate change.
· Provides analytical support for projects, new business opportunities and proposals.
· Creates and performs training on JDSU-centric logistics solutions.

Qualifications
Skills
· Knowledge of Mexico Logistics routes and carriers to North America, Asia, Europe and South America
· Understanding of Mexico Logistics market and pricing. Ability to optimize carrier routing methods to reduce costs
· Strong negotiation skills and knowledge of Logistics contracting
· Working knowledge of Mexico import/export regulations and laws
· Ability to develop local carrier and customs relationships to assist in problem resolution where required
· Solid verbal and written proficiency in English is required.
· Oracle, PLM / Agile and BRIO reporting experience strongly desirable.
· Proven ability for process improvement and experience in documenting processes or work instructions is strongly desirable.
· Expertise in MS Office tools including Excel and Word is required.
· Experience in specifying packaging and labeling for parcels, identifying effective and low cost freight carrier methods, applying INCOTERMs, addressing customs and regulatory issues associated with free trade zones and international requirements is required.

Education / Experience (Minimum)
· Bachelor's degree in a related field and 4-7 years of work experience associated with international shipments.
