Job description
-For our Siemens Corporate Technology Integrated and Disruptive Innovation Center (IDIC) in Beijing. Siemens we are looking for an Innovation Manager.


What are my responsibilities?
Mission
-The primary function as an Innovation Manager is to train and coach teams of Siemens Research and Development Engineers in the Industrial Design Thinking in China and support them to apply the methodology successfully on the execution of innovation projects.
Tasks
-Teaching and training of Design Thinking methodology to Siemens R&D engineers, e.g. planning and execution of workshops/curriculums/trainings
-Coaching Siemens R&D engineers in applying the methodology along the execution of real projects, e.g. coordination and support of program's projects, project managers and project partners as well as partly executing design thinking tasks (e.g. needfinding, brainstorming, prototyping and testing) with and for the project teams.
-Further developing the methodology and the training program to the requirements and boundary conditions of an industrial company like Siemens and the cultural aspects of China
-Building up and managing a community of experts to ensure the knowledge
-Planning and executing research work for further adaptation of the methodology for the industrial environment and for China. Ensuring knowledge transfer across projects. Internal/external publications of case studies and lessons learnt in collaboration with Stanford University.
-Developing promotional material and introduce the methodology to internal and external stakeholders.
-Support for contribution of Performance Management Process e.g. target setting, strategy, business development, customer relationship, evaluation and competency development for Project Managers and project staff in close cooperation with relevant person
-Acquisition and utilization of knowledge concerning the innovation trends in business and technology


What do I need to qualify for this job?
Education
-Master degree in relevant field or above. Engineering background preferred
Knowledge/Capability
-Design Thinking / User Centered Design in theory and practice. DT project experience in Industry/B2B preferred
-Design skills, e.g. sketching, hands-on prototyping
-Technical knowledge and skills is highly desirable
-Workshop experience incl. moderation techniques, methods of discussion and cooperation
-Industry/client know-how (strategies, technologies, business perspectives)
-Business understanding
-Team leadership, coaching, passionate and driven for innovation
-Project management, marketing, business development/acquisition, customer relationship skills
-High communication skills, negotiation skills, value selling techniques
-Established Network in the Design Thinking Community
-Chinese, English
Experience
-Experience with design thinking (and similar concepts) for innovation, b2b project experience
-Experience with technical projects is highly desirable
-Work experience in Industry/B2B preferred
-Track record of successful project history as Project Manager/Contributor in a Team environment
-In case you have acquired your skills in alternative ways your application is just as well appreciated

Systems Engineering

Integrated and Disruptive Innovation Center (IDIC)
-IDIC, founded in 2012 at Siemens Corporate Technology, is the strategic partner for need-driven technology innovation at Siemens China and beyond. IDIC adapted the Design Thinking approach from Stanford University and IDEO to the requirements of Siemens and China and developed a methodology called “Industrial DesignThinking in China” (i.DT) with customized training/coaching programs. i.DT methodology enables R&D teams to identify hidden critical customer needs and foster the development of innovative solutions that provides sustainable value for Siemens customers.
-The IDIC team is teaching, training and coaching i.DT to Siemens R&D engineers along the execution of real projects. IDIC applies the i.DT methodology on projects for all four Siemens sectors – Energy, Infrastructure and Cities, Healthcare and Industry covering a large variety of tasks from software, hardware, service to business design. In addition, IDIC is cooperating with Siemens CT Research Groups, Siemens Business Units, Siemens Lead Customers, Government entities and top notch Research Facilities.
