The STCA (Search Technology Center Asia) team is looking for a self-motivated, extremely passionate individual to help deliver world-class Text-To-Speech technology. Our mission is to build the most human-sounding voices for as many languages and voices in the world as possible. As the core component of Microsoft Speech technology, we are expecting to deliver the delightful speech output experience by advancing the technology fiercely.
We are looking for a highly motivated and technology-focused Program Manager who can excel in the following areas:
1. Project and Team Management: Work with the Speech scientists to define project plans, timelines, and deliverables for the next release of TTS engines; ensure the features are delivered on time conforming to a very high quality bar; communicate plans, progress, issues and updates to the key stakeholders.
2. Produce detailed feature specifications, coordinate development/test program schedules across several component teams and drive the release of the technologies through successive product cycles.
3. Work with the scientists to drive the technology roadmap for long-term technology investment; Work with other partner-oriented PMs to understand user scenarios and features and in return to provide prioritization guidance to the technology roadmap
4. Evangelism: Ensure adoption of scenarios/features by presenting in technology conferences, directly working with customers/partners (internal and external) to help refine their component design to leverage the new features/scenarios.
Qualifications:
- 6+ years experience in shipping high quality software
- Strong Speech (preferably Speech Synthesis) background and exceptional aptitude for quickly coming up to speed and mastering complex technical topics
- Ability to think through an entire problem identifying symptoms and the root cause
- Strong customer empathy, good at understanding customer requirements and can transfer such knowledge into the engineering processes
- Proven tracking record of leading a technology team, guide and empower the team members to take on big challenges
- Proven experience in managing cross-group collaboration and building cross-team relationships
- Excellent verbal and written communication skill in English
- BS/MS degree in computer science preferred
