Opportunity
Copal is expanding its Beijing research centre, and is looking for highly motivated individuals to join us.
Daily activities would include:
- Analyzing financial statements
- Industry and capital market newsletters
- Liquidity of the companies analysis
- Bond agreements analysis and capital structure analysis
- Transaction comps - Industry reports
- Thematic studies
- Financial benchmarking
- Technical Chinese-English / English-Chinese translation
Job Responsibility Ratings initiation:
– Spreading of historical financials (annual as well as LTM numbers) after accounting for all the analytical adjustments typically done by rating agencies; the typical adjustments pertain to unfunded/underfunded pensions, operating leases, capitalized interest, hybrid instruments, asset retirement obligations and guarantees to unconsolidated subsidiaries
– Calculation of commonly used credit ratios and industry-specific ratios based on adjusted financials
– Analyzing qualitative ratings factors
– Macro-economic scenario analysis of the region
– Industry analysis – Business model, contracts, customer concentration, revenue concentration, geographic split, vendor management
– Regulatory aspects; compliance
– Corporate governance factors Monitoring and annual/mid-term reviews
– Monitoring quantitative ratings factors
– Financial performance factors, debt repaying capacity
– Growth ratios, performance ratios, liquidity ratios, leverage ratios, KPI analysis
– Monitoring key credit focused factors impacting ratings
– Tracking of financial covenants, headroom movement: debt/EBITDA, debt to equity, capital expenditure
– Tracking liquidity movement, upcoming maturities, repayment sources and refinancing capabilities
– Monitoring qualitative ratings factors
– Tracking material adverse events that may impact future ratings
– Changes in macro-economic scenario of the region
– Changes in market share, business model, contracts, customer concentration, revenue concentration, geographic split, vendor management
– Changes in regulatory aspects, industry specific compliance requirements, corporate governance factors Required Background
– Complete fluency in written and verbal Mandarin & English language
– Top academic credentials – Technical skills
– Must have strong written/verbal and quantitative skills
– Strong analytical skills
– Good grasp of business concepts
– Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
