Position Summary
The Manager Product Development is responsible for leading a team to develop multiple products globalization and feature development from requirement analysis, design, implementation to maintenance, to deliver value to internal and external customers. Oversight includes day-to-day operations, as well as tasks associated with developing, or designing. Tracks the delivery of development releases to ensure project is on schedule, and facilitates coordination across other groups including test.
Principal Responsibilities
· Manages team and leads product design and development activities throughout whole life-cycle that meet or exceed defined customer requirements. Identifies and resolves technical issues and provides critical assessment of technical roadmap and/or design requirements and how to execute.
· Communicates the technical vision and provides technical direction to assigned team through the development process. And recognizes design or development deficiencies and implements effective solutions.
· Communicates and enforces sound engineering design process and quality practices, coding standards, technical documentation standards and QA processes. Complies with and helps to enforce standard policies and procedures.
· Monitors and supervises day-to-day activities of the team including technical design, work breakdown, code reviews, unit testing, launch plans and overall ownership of schedule, quality and budget.
· Implements plans for building organizational capability, capacity and agility. Executes to defined annual goals, engineering and business initiatives.
· Participates in and supports a culture where employees are highly motivated, energetic, excited and enthusiastic working for the company , by establishing measurement, reward/recognition, compensation, training, opportunities etc.
· Works with employees to create performance and development goals that align with the department goals and conducts employee performance reviews.
· Addresses performance issues and provides ongoing and corrective feedback in a timely and constructive manner.
· Manages staff scheduling to meet business goals, mitigates team conflict and communication problems through coaching and preventative planning.
· Communicates strategic direction and initiatives to team members. Applies understanding of business implications in making Engineering decisions.
· Provides input to senior management regarding appropriate staffing levels needed to meet departmental goals, and assists staff in resolving complex or out of policy operation problems.
Skills & Knowledge Requirements
Education
BS degree or equivalent in computer science, electrical engineering, or related field is preferred, with a minimum of 8 years of directly related work experience. And minimum 3+ years’ experience in a managing role providing guidance to team members.
Skills
· Experience and a good record of managing team on both people and product/project development with proactive, collaborative, innovative attitudes.
· Experience with complex system (including performance and security) design and implementation, successfully developing/delivering multiple software products on-time with quality, within budget.
· Demonstrated strong technical skills/knowledge/experience and solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and project management methodologies/tools.
· Knowledge of formal technology architecture and design process, and ability to pragmatically lead these efforts within a software engineering team.
· Should be a hands-on manager whose style is to be actively involved in all issues relating to product’s success.
· Familiar with one or more object oriented languages (e.g. C++, or C#, or Java etc.), and one or more scripting languages (e.g. Shell, Python, Perl, Java script etc.).
· Familiar with Internet technologies (e.g. TCP/IP, HTML), Networking technologies and multi-threaded programming.
· Familiar Windows, or Linux, or Unix, or iOS, or Android programming, and OS concepts.
· Experience with task prioritization and delegation.
· Fluent oral and verbal English, and good communication skills.
Additional skills:
· Experience in Globalization (G11N) development.
· Experience working with multiple global off-shore sites, and leading different employees globally.
