RealNetworks is seeking a highly energetic Lead Codec Development Engineer to develop a range of video technology related based on RMVB.

We have an opening for a high-energy self-starter Lead Codec SDE to help in incubating the next generation of multimedia experiences on mobile devices or other embedded devices. We will target all of the ways in which people want to enjoy media on the go.

Qualifications include:
? 5+ year significant research and development experience with video encoder and decoder algorithm innovation
? Practical working deliverables with video codec technologies used in one or more of H.265/HEVC, VP9, AVS2 etc.
? Rich experience in patent application, more than five patens in video codec area had been filed in the US or Europe.
? Master Degree is a must and PhD with Codec related Doctoral dissertation is preferred
? Experience in design CABAC, Super MB techinique, and HEVC SAO well is a strong plus.
? Optimization experience with Intel/ARM processors;Solid programming skills and C/C++ coding abilities;
? Three to five member team management skills are expected;
? Must be creative, have strong problem solving ability, good verbal and written communication skills, and a desire to deliver cutting edge technology in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.


PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions: % of Time
1. Cowork with product manager and program manager on RMVB+ requirements analysis; (5%)
2. Develop and execute RMVB+ R&D plan for whole team and work as key individual contributor of one or more of key modules of RMVB+ (75%)
3. Create and file innovative IP patents which are used by RMVB+ (10%)
4. Communicate with technical colleagues/consultants from inside China and the US/Europe (5%)
5. Daily team managment (5%)

QUANTITATIVE MEASURES
? 5+ years hand-on experience on video codec development.
? 2+ yr of experience working in multi-national teams that reside partially in Beijing and partially in the United States is preferred;
? Masters Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience required.
