Position Title:Senior Business Development Specialist (BDS)

Position Summary
Support the firm’s business and client development strategies and perform a leadership role in the BD Team. The role is of real significance to this rapidly interationalising law firm and will involve working with one of Mainland China’s most experienced professional services marketers. This will be achieved through comprehensive business planning, insightful market research and analysis, superior responses to tenders and ad hoc pitch requests, dynamic marketing materials, innovative and well coordinated business development campaigns, meaningful client feedback, effective engagement with the Managing Partners, Heads of Industry Sector, Client Relationship Partners and other lawyers, and superior teamwork.
Key Accountabilities
· Assisting with the development of and delivering against Practice Area and sector business plans. Assisting with the development and project management of and at times taking the lead on tenders and capability statements
· Assisting with the development and implementation of new business development campaigns and initiatives, such as China Inbound / China Outbound.
· Assisting with the development of key marketing materials and monitoring and updating website information.
· Sourcing and analysing market data to identify trends and opportunities.
· Helping to coordinate sector meetings, including the development of meeting agendas and minutes, and following up agreed actions.
· Conceptualising and delivering high quality events with the Events team.
· Working closely with the Marketing Director on initiatives to raise the profile of the Practice Area / Key Industry Sectors capability and key partners in each stream.
· Coordinating on practice group and sector marketing budgets with the relevant CRMs/MP/Heads of.
· Coordinating sector-related sponsorships and industry associations.

Performance Indicators
· Delivering on responsibilities as set out in practice group and sector business plans. Project managing and delivering high quality tender and pitch documents against deadlines (without exception)
· Responding to requests and delivering against deadlines.
· Working effectively with peers in Beijing and the broader Business Development & Marketing team
· Development and delivery of ideas to raise the firm’s profile and deepen client and key stakeholder relationships
· Development of strong working relationships with partners and lawyers as evidenced by feedback from same
· Willingness to take on new responsibilities to support the firm’s strategy in Practice Groups and Sector Areas.

Qualifications
· A Bachelor Degree (or Masters Degree) , ideally in Marketing, Business, Economics, Commerce, Law, though with relevant experience other disciplines are acceptable.
Knowledge Essential
· Advanced software skills notably Office 2010 Word, Excel, PowerPoint, , Internet
· 4 - 10 years post-qualification professional services business development / corporate business development experience / business-to-business business development experience
Desirable
· Professional Services, multi-national or financial services background
Skills and Abilities Essential
· Ability to work well with others and as part of a large, multi-layered team.
· Attention to detail.
· Ability to communicate effectively with senior management and partners.
· Ability to produce high quality written communications.
· Ability to prioritise and manage competing demands, and deliver against deadlines in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
· Ability to undertake complex research tasks and apply strong analytical skills.
· Ability to project-manage and draft tenders and submissions.
