HP Smart Update Manager Development Manager Job Description

The development managers work with the architects to understand requirements and the high level design

Works with the architects to resolve risks identified by the architects

Works with partner teams to insure that we are meeting their needs as much as possible

Works with customers to resolve issues and promote HPSUM as appropriate

Maintains his budget forecast and meets that forecast for both headcount and operating expenses

Identifies needed equipment and orders as appropriate based on available funds

Monitors the assignment of tasks and priorities by the team leaders

Monitors the design work by the architects, team leads, and developers

Mentors the architects, team leads, and developers on his team

Works with the program managers to insure that schedules are maintained

Monitors the schedule and works with the other development managers, program managers, architects, team leaders, marketing, and partner teams to correct problems encountered with the schedule

Coordinates with other development managers when dependencies exist between agile teams belonging to other managers

Responsible for people management including rewards, training, and disciplinary action

Meets with all employees on a weekly or bi-weekly basis

Responsible for working with all employees on career development including the mentoring program

Delegates effectively

Empowers (but doesn’t abandon)

Grows people

Looks for opportunities to positively impact the business

Runs to the fire


Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • First level university degree or equivalent experience required. May have advanced university degree.
  • Minimum 5 or more years of related work experience, including 0 -2 years of people management experience.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong leadership skills, including coaching, team-building, and conflict resolution.
  • Advanced project management skills including time and risk management, resource prioritization, and project structuring.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to manage human capital across geographies to drive workforce development and achieve desired results
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation, presentation, and influence skills
  • Advanced business acumen, technical knowledge, and extensive knowledge in applications and technologies
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills
  • Strong communication skills (e.g. written, verbal, presentation); mastery in English and local language
  • Good understanding of HP's policies and processes.
