Primary Objective
CNABB, Power Systems division, HVDC, seeks the System Engineers who will be
Responsible for system design associated with HVDC stations. The ideal candidate will hold an engineering degree and technical experience to perform the above tasks contributing to the successful execution of HVDC tenders and projects, Customer satisfaction, cost forecasting and control, scheduling, quality and performance.
Tasks
1. Responsible for developing the conceptual system design for proposals/tenders based on technical specifications and commercial requirements to ensure we have economical and technical solutions needed to win projects.
2. Perform system design for projects based on technical specifications and commercial contractual requirements to facilitate the completion of projects and provision of service within cost, timescale, technical and quality targets and customer satisfaction
3. Notify the Project Manager of any difficulties encountered in the system design that may adversely impact safety, reliability, quality, cost, or schedule of the ABB project deliverables, and provide recommendations for solutions.
4. Participate in system design reviews and system design approvals with customer.
5. Maintain close contact with customers and project participants to identify and resolves issues of mutual concern and to seek opportunities for additional business. Attend customer meetings as required.
6. Coordinate with all departments to assist in accomplishing the project goals, including performing technical, cost savings, and constructability reviews of design packages from internal ABB engineering, outsourced sub-contractor engineering and equipment factories.
7. Generate equipment specifications, review sub-supplier documentation and witness factory acceptance testing, as applicable.
8. Supervise, plan and actively participate in the Factory Acceptance Test, System test and Site Acceptance Test with customer and/or other ABB units.
9. Evaluate conceptual designs based upon commercial requirements balancing the design complexity with required functionality and cost.
10. Adhere to ABB HVDC quality and document control procedures to ensure design documents are complete and accurate.



Requirements
1. Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
2. Masters of Science degree in power electronics/power systems strongly preferred. Commensurate experience in lieu or advanced degree will be considered.
3. Relevant experience in electrical power systems; however, candidates with additional experience with be considered.
4. Experience from HVDC or other grid applications of power electronics is a plus.
5. Travel is required; up to 30% both domestic and International.
6. Fluent in English and Mandarin, both written and spoken. Additional language skills an advantage but not a request.
